For those of you who have played this game, what are your thoughts?

I didn't think i would be too happy with Shadow having a gun, then while playing it, i realized that he doesn't HAVE to use the gun at all. The stages are quite fast paced, but that's okay, there are lots of them http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I also enjoy being able to hop into a car and run over enemies :3

My brother told me (He goes to a Sonic forum), that generally, the game wasn't taken very well.

But of course, the Sonic forum people seem to be the most anti-Sonic people in the world >_> Sonic Heroes rocked socks, and so did SA2

See, if it plays like Sonic Heroes, only without the multiple formations (Don't get me wrong, I liked the formations idea, but yeah, Sonic Hero style speed minus formations I'd like to see), and stages close to the length of Sonic Heroes, then, "Shadow the Hedgehog, ftw!"

Seriously, the only games I beat anymore are RPG's and Sonic games ._. (I'm working on Metroid Prime though >_>)

EDIT: Ugh, now for Christmas, it's a toss up between Pokemon XD and Shadow the Hedgehog ._. The games I listed as the games I'm looking forward to are either not gonna be out by then (Twilight Princess, PSU) or just weren't good at all (Ultimate Spiderman, I really wished for this to be better http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif).

Well, it's here with me now(rented from BlockBuster) and it's alright.

My friend and I don't particularly care for the story at the moment. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif We're mainly just playing multiplayer. I was kind of wondering if there was more stages to it though.

Multiplayer is fast-paced and fun, but the stages get a little monotonous after a while.

Do you have another Gamecube Sonic game which you could you compare it to?

I'd like to know if it's the same formula, except with guns and cars.

I don't have this game, but from the way it looked on the commercials, I'd say it looks like Sonic Adventure 2/Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.

I only have one problem with Sonic Heroes and that's the fact it's extremely buggy (I have gone through walls AND floors multiple times and died) and I FRICKING HATE CASINO ZONES.

Shadow the Hedgehos looks nice... I might try out when the price drops. I hope the music is good, that really is my favorite part of the sonic games.

Agreed. I really had no desire to play Shadow until I heard the theme song and said to myself, "It's so delishiously corny!"

I'm gonna buy this after a price drop, or convince a younger sibling to buy it.
they leave my gamecube games on the floor and step on them.
so it'd be treated better if they knew i was not waiting with extra money to buy a new one.
I'm pretty excited though.

Yeah, I know about all that. But it just doesn't happen that often.

I generally like Casino zones, but the pinball part of it was definately the most frustrating bit in the whole game.

The music reminds me of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle [god i love that game :3] and the gameplay is a lot like it [minus the fact that you can drive and shoot things with your gun http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif]. Anyways, for Sonic fans, i suggest renting it and playing it on your own http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

And yeah, there are tons of levels to follow: Normal, Semi-Hero, Hero, Semi-Evil, Evil. And each has like 7 stages http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif So yeah, stuff...http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

DAMN MY XBOX FOR MESSING UP!! I too, am a Sonic fan. I love SA2 and this one looks cool too.

Just answer one question, to get through the game, is it ESSENTIAL to use your gun? I don't hate the idea of guns, I just don't what to have to fire randomly to survive.

Not essential. I often drop mine even if i have lots of ammo just cause i like the traditional way. Don't worry, guns are nessecary, just fun :3

BTW, for those of you who don't know, this game is for all three consoles [GCN, PS2, X-BOX], so if you don't have one, get it for the other http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I played this game throughly already, and have really loved it. The game itself is rather hard, and NOT due to buggyness, unlike Heros. The guns acutally help the gameplay. I like destroying everything in mere seconds, and I also like gunning things down whileist running at sonic speeds. The varying storyline is also a perk I like.

There are A LOT of misconceptions going around for this game now.

Tons of sites and reviews are bashing it because they don't know how to play it right. If you want to have fun in here, it's important to play it with the right controls.

First off:
*The instruction manual LIES about the C-stick*
It says you never use it, but you can use it to look the camera around. I beat it 2x w/o looking around and it was frusterating as heck. This helps you aim too, and stops "zomg the camera is busted" which is a huge complaint. Fix it in a quarter of a second by touching the C stick if the camera goes wrong. Bah!

They say he doesn't aim/always misses
NO you just have to go close enough to enemies and he won't miss them unless they block. Everyone who is doing the reviews is trying to snipe with the grenade-launcher and failing then whining about it. Diff weps have diff ranges, but few have 'target icons'.

Figureing these 2 things out would've helped the reviewers immensely.

Otherwise:
This contains the usual Sonic-Fare, (collecting things, hidden doors, racing stuff, beating bosses, lots of speed, big loops, varied levels, pesty voice acting, a few cheap-shots, vague puzzles etc) but with driving, flying, sniping, shooting and 'raging' added in for extra spice.

If you like that sort of thing, and want more BUY IT. If you hated all that stuff in the past, you still won't like it here. It has decent animations, and I havn't fallen through a floor, wall or ceiling once. The camera is far less disposed for 'freaking out' like it used to unless you're doing something really odd like trying to drive a hummer through a bus backward. And even then, it only did it for a second.

Something Wacky:
Upon filling up the 'dark bar' (allows you to go into a rage of invincibility and unlimited ammo while red lines fly around you to emphasize 'awesomeness') for the first time I became confused and my first acts of wanton destruction were Shadow yelling "I will KILL all those who get in my way!!" and promptly upturing a small dustbin and hurling a traffic cone. Terrifying, I know.

I wrote a review but it is on my own site. I guess my opinion is that this game remains Sonic-ey, but has more polish then Heros and an intreguing story. It is also far less frusterating then earlier games. You'll probably have lots of replay value of varied stages if you want all the endings, which is nice.

I still havn't beat it all the ways yet...I wonder if it hints to any sequils?

Eww..I just heard that it has different voice actors. But I've gotten so attached to the old ones!

Yeah, my only turn off really is the Sonic X voice actors.

Can we changed the voice acting to Japanese? There is no reason to listen to the English voice dubs now >_>

EDIT: And even though I like the english voice acting originally, I didn't liek the lack of that option in Sonic Heroes.

Yes, you can change the voice acting to japanese. But don't worry, the voices sound pretty good, actually.
