I was recently re-watching the battle video for PSU, and all I have to say is that if that's the kind of music we're going to hear, I'm impressed.

discuss?

No idea, there was a link posted on the PSO:BB official boards long ago, I think it's been deleted by now though

But anyways, yes, the music in that movie is really awesome, as is the rest of the PSU music. I especially like the BGM for the oriental-type world..

I hope the music is good too. If the music is as good as PSO's, then I'd be very pleased, because PSO had a really nice music selection.

Music is a good quality in video games... I hope it's good.

Wow, I've played PSO for hundreds of hours...and I never really noticed the music, I guess I was caught up in the actual gameplay too much to realize it.

...I go away for a week and miss out on so much in some sense here.

I love the music in PSO, specifically Episode 2's music. Including Spaceship (my favorite track -puts it on- jungle and all the others. Episode 1's music is good but tracks like caves make me sleepy if I'm playing at any hour after 12 noon O_o Good ambience music though. I'd say my favorite in Episode 1 would be mines.

As for the music in PSU, I think it surpasses the quality of PSO's http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif Which is great! I'm hoping for other remixes like the spaceship one (which I hope comes back remixed again lol). I'm also looking forward to hear the music from the oriental world ^__^; <-- oriental freak ><;;

I think it's safe to say they had mor budget this time around >_>;;

Following on from the high standard of PSO, which was only then enhanced by the brilliance of Episode III's score (which sadly, due to the low spread of such game, is severly underrated!) - the music of the next installment takes up a rather large chunk of my expectations from PSU. Judging from what we've seen, the score of EpIII is being taken further (and as far as I'm aware, they've even comissioned the same orchestra of the third episode, along with another in tow), which brings much joy to the bottom of my bodily crevices.

So far, the pieces I've been most fond of are the [assumed] theme of Moatoob, and the whole beginning of the E3 2004 trailer track. That bit where it's all green and lovely, and the little bells chimes in before the lightning strike of death is a delight! I'm pretty indifferent to the whole vocal thing by Kelli Sae - what would a form of online Phantasy Star be without a wonderfully cheesey vocal tune? Of course, according to Espiokaos's questions to the fair Kelli, there has infact been more than one recording done by the maiden. So, perhaps a slower version of the theme we've experienced thus far (especially when the main melody has been recycled endless times in different videos, lyriced or not). All the other ending songs from previous PSO installments have been lovely, so here's hoping!

Of course, I wonder if some form of IDOLA will weed its way into PSU - surely it would be blasphemy if such a music-thing was missing!

The warsaw philiharmonic is a well known orchestra as I understand. Actually its my hope that we hear more music from the classic PS series. What I wouldn't give to hear a remixed version of Motiva PS1. Sure there's the one done by SEGAROCKS, but overall, i'm not a rock kind of guy. And the improv they put into their mixes just went too far from PS into rock and essentially killed the tune.

Spaceship is totally one of the best BGM's on PSO. It was probably the place I went to the most besides Mines. ^_^

Has there been any mention who is going to do the music? Like Hideaki Kobayashi or Fumie Kumatani?

Maybe we can get our old boy Yuzo Koshiro to work on the music? I know he may not come up with PS-sounding music, but, he contributed IMMENSELY to Sega's past. Perhaps the Andromeda team who worked on Panzer Dragoon? I heard they may have split, but, if even part of them are left over, borrow them from Microsoft so you can add it to PS. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I really liked the music in PSO too. It was very classic...original. And I would love for PSU to have the same sort of tracks. Maybe even some remixes from PSO http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif But PSO music never really got old to me and if PSU went along those lines of music, I'm sure it'll be as entertaining as PSO's music ever was...

I wouldn'd mind some artists that people have actually heard of. examples: Black Sabbath, Metallica, Green Day, Ted Nugent...War (come on, everyone loves Low Rider) http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

For Black Sabbath, play Rock & Roll Racing on Super NES. Decent racing game with classic rock tracks (instrumentals only tho http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif ). Green Day has had such a surge of popularity that you never know where theyll go next. I like Ted as well but hes so anti-establishment that I doubt he'll touch video games as theyre pretty mainstream. As for Metallica, we know & love em...but, very touchy about their licenses & such. Yeah, Green Day is my least favorite of those bands. They're too popular with un-cool people. The classic rock rocks! I think that some of those kinds of bands would be cool. Seriously though...Low Rider! Does anyone know that song? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif But any older rock would be sweet. Can ya think of any other bands like that???

If theres anything having to do with bouncing up & down in PSU (a sport, etc), I know the perfect song:

Bounce by System of a Down

LOL

Very high energy chorus. Works perfectly. I know it wont happen. Maybe when we know more about the gameplay & how the music relates, we can form a different topic about non-PS music we listen to WHILE we play PSU.

I think I might end up turning down the in-game music and listen to some of my own tunes while I'm playing PSU. When it comes out, that'll be a sweet thread...

I wonder if they will remix older songs or go for the "whole new feel" dealie. Although I am impressed by the new music, I'd still like to hear the good old mines music, or jungle music, maybe even "IDOLA-I have the Eternal Feather"

Yeah PSO did have excellent music, but that didn't last as long as our replaying of the game. I got sick of it eventually. But CCA jungles music was excellent.

But I'll probably listen to AFX instead sometimes.

Agreed, the music in PSO was really sweet. There's not really any other games with any similar sounds. But unlike you, I've yet to get tired of it. I still am not annoyed by PSO's music...Especially the CCA Jungles http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Judging from the latest videos, it sound all good to me. If anyone recognizes any remixes in the new videos, be sure to post.

*yawn*

Like every other online game I've played, the games music is being turned to 0 and my Winamp will be playing in the background. You can only take so much of game music until you get sick of it and start to forget it's there.

As a fan of PS2, I hope Bo contributes to the music project, at least in part.

What? I can dream, can't I?

for the 7millionth time i would like to say that a Versus-Tricktrack (spaceship) and Burning rangers remix would be great. and they need more than 7 music disks that will cost more, but not go away after 1 play. it irritated me that there where some songs i liked that i never heard e-nuf of and couldnt get on disk. like the one song when u beat the Central Dome Fire Swirl quest, it is a nice and mellow song that i would like to play for the times im chillin like Bob Dillan.

Man, I can remeber all the great music from Streets Of Rage 1-3, Shinobi...that guy knows his stuff, the music he made IMO is the best the 16 bit era had to offer.

As for music, I hope they borrow more from PSO ep.3 then ep1-2 because ep.3 had way better tunes (IMO) compared to ep.1&2.
