Is it determined yet whether or not PS2 and PC players will be able to play online together?

Haha thanks Rion...I didn't think it has, but I know that the majority of my friends are going to be playing it on PS2, I just can't afford to pay for the extra stuff...

What are you getting it for?

PC most likely...

Oh, that sucks...

I think most people will get it for PS2 so if the servers aren't connected that's going to suck.

I think there will be a very large number of people getting it for the PC, considering that ALL of the current Blue Burst players are playing on PC and NONE of the current PSO players on consoles are on PS2s http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

They mentioned a while back in an interview that they wanted to let PC and PS2 players play together. They didn't sound very confident that it would be a feature that made it into the game though. Let's hope they manage to pull it off. It's obviously possible, since FFXI did it.

Im unsure but if i had to place my bet i would say yes, Pc & PS 2 players will coexsist on the same servers simply. because FFXI has already proving that this can be done.

but if they are not linked, the pc ver could be patched.

If they patched and kept the PC version otherwise updated, I'd probably prefer seperate servers actually. I'd be isolating one of my friends who might play, because he dosen't have an u[graded PC to play on. But there's a good chance he wont be playing anyway since he's stuck on 56K and wont play unless he can pay for a broadband connection.

I honestly hope that the game will be atleast patched for bugs and glitches... we all know what glitches and bugs do to a game well enough. Especially when it comes to a Phantasy Star game that plays online...

Another one of my threads vox? http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif LOL

I think that they should be linked because there would be a larger community online and then people on different systems could play together. Example: you on PC and me on PS2. Plus one version wouldn't fall behind with new content...Equality for both systems!

Any more reasons for or against linked servers...

PS2 owners will be able to share the same game world online with PC players, effectively doubling the potential audience. Also, custom characters will be stored server-side rather than on your memory card—to help curb cheating.

I haven't seen it confirmed elsewhere, but MagicBox said the PC & PS2 servers would be linked at the same time as the online pricing was announced.

Shared SegaLink ID's and the simultaneous release date also suggest PC & PS2 users will be playing together.

Acorrding to IGN, they will be linked.

They should let the 2 play together, it would make a better experience for the game, or for some of those who prefer to only play with their own console, you could have a few separated servers.

Oh yeah, that really kicks ass. After all this time, my question has finally been answered. I couldn't be any happier with ST's decision to link servers...That's hella cool http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Now I can crush my friends on a PC or a PS2 and it won't matter which. Anyone know if you'll be able to access your characters from anywhere seeing as they're stored serverside?

If it works the same as FFXI, you'll be able to access your account & character from both the PC and PS2. They've already stated that characters will be stored sever side, so there's a good chance it will work this way.

So what youre saying is, if I were to know someone who had PSU on PC, I could automatically access my acct without having to install anything on his PC or cause any type of interruption? I mean if its that simple, thats great. Sooner or later, Im sure ppl are gonna ask if ppl are dual boxing PS2s or PCs. LOL Im TOTALLY sure its gonna come up.
