You should keep members from having the same avatar as other members. It gets really confusing sometimes.
The person with more posts or joined first should get to keep theirs (or something, I don't know).

I know how it feels to be confused with the same avatars. While your idea help distinguish some members, it's certainly not very fair to all. You might or might not not notice this, but PSOW does have rules about treatment based on join dates & posts. We have quite a number of avatars in the database, over 640 of them. But as you can see, members choose what they like. Usually, new & popolar avatars are picked more often, thus the unfortunate sameness.

PSOW does not allow custom avatars, but members can make new avatars for their own selection. If you have some (new) PSO &/or PSU related character images that you like, edit them to the typical size of 64x64, then submit here to be added to the database. If the admins like them enough, they would be added to the avatar selection. That's how & why many of the new avatars are here. ;]
