PSO Videos

I noticed that the PSU Sidebar has a Videos link, which lit an idea in my head. Similar to the art gallery, would it be possible to have a video gallery of fanmade videos, such as Trypticon's tutorials?

I know not many people are capable of making videos, and the population of GC/Xbox is low, but I think that older videos could be found and submitted if called upon. Videos of the areas would be a decent addition to the site. I'm also sure that there are a few select users capable of recording Blue Burst gameplay. Maybe they could help out as well by making videos of the Episode 4 areas.

Would this be a good suggestion? Are there any problems involved with such an idea that I might not be thinking about?

I think Meira had been wanting to add such an area, as it could promote more users to create videos and the like, in both the gameplay sense as well as perhaps a means to create stories, etc.

Not sure where progress on that is as of yet.
There's those ones in the Media section... but not quite the same thing.

It would be possible to have a section for PSO-related videos in the Downloads area. The infrastructure is in place to support it. It would just require some additional coding to add that specific section. Since we're in the middle of some fairly important site work right now, we probably won't be able to add this for a few days.

That's very considerate to mention my work there, Skorpius. I can submit all of my videos to PSOworld if you guys are interested in housing them. It would be nice to have them in a place where viewers could find them more easily. And plus.. episode 10 would live on forever then.

You've contributed many videos to the community that have gone somewhat forgotten, sad to say. They aren't super easy to access/find, and you aren't using a completely reliable host for them either, right? (anglefire). I'd like to see all episodes uploaded to some gallery for easy viewing.

Plus, a gallery would spark my interest to create more videos. I plan on making another one, but I wanted to wait until this idea was thought over.

You can find a link to download all but one of them right now (end of summer quest 2004) at the website VioletSky and I have been tinkering with for a few months. Problem with that is, of course, no advertising here since the site has forums that might be considered rivalry to the ones here, and that the site itself really isn't ready for public viewing yet.

But yes, the host they are on right now still isn't the most reliable. Over the past three months of the movies being there, slightly over 33 gigs of them have been downloaded. Still, the host isn't really reliable since it's free hosting: Savefile.com.

If some interest was taken in preserving them in a more reliable, more heavily viewed place such as this site, I may be compelled to finish the last two movies of the main series. Also, I need to get online again this month sometime to try to catch Henry Ngo before he hits 200 with his character 09. He wanted me to film it for him, but I haven't been online since October, and he was level 198 then. My question if he had hit already that I posted here a while back went unanswered, so I hope I'm not too late.

Anyway, thanks again for the acknowledgement. It was quite unexpected.

Yeah, I brought that up quite some time ago, in fact. A section to house fan media that doesn't fall properly under the categories of Fan Fiction or Fan Art. Meant to include Flash, Videos, music, radio plays, and perhaps cosplay photo collections.

Yeah...I've got some videos, some useful ones (Like a video showing how to turn Branch of Paku Paku into Striker of Chao). I'd love to have those hosted for me, especially if they help the community (my webhost le sucks for Bandwith)

I think we have everything in place now to add PSO videos to the site. If you have something that you think would be worth adding to the site, please reply with a link to your video or send me a Private Message. Before adding any videos to the section, I'll briefly review each one to make sure that it does not have any content that violates forum rules and that the content in it would be a worthwhile addition (don't worry, this threshold is fairly low).

EDIT: Has anyone had any problems with downloading videos since we moved to the new server? I know that sometimes the download would stop for no apparent reason when we were hosted on planetdreamcast.

If the download doesn't work the first time, try it again a while later. The links are all valid downloads, the host sometimes sucks though.
