How To Be A Mod...

How do you get to be the people who either do good for a site, or f*ck it up and annoy everybody as a whole? Here at PSOW, I wonder who has the answer(s)... since I'm indecisive about a few of my own:

Would one have to be:

-A long-time poster? Some may think so, some may not. I don't due to the fact that there are two or so mods now that haven't been registered here half the time that most people have... so that theory is out of the window...

-An intelligent poster? Again, some may think so, but I don't happen to. A few mods here who, before they became mods, constantly freeposted and made weird (few funny) and annoying threads, so that theory goes out of the window as well...

-On good terms with the mods? A suck up? Now, I'd agree with this theory, but to my knowledge, the newer mods haven't shown any sign of kisssing anyone's ass, unless I missed something...

These are just my theories... anyone else have anything to add? Or better yet, an answer? And try to keep this nice everyone. I'm just being a lil' curious about this.

BTW I think to become a mod you just have to suck ass. The only person i'm pretty sure didn't do that was watashiwa and rbf2000. I don't particulaly care whether anyone agrees with this or not, this is about opinions on becoming a mod and I have though this way for a long time.

Friends of the mods are enlisted to help because the mods trust them. Obviously you don't put some one you don't know in a status with power if you don't trust them with it.

So what if all the mods happen to be friends? Of the current mods, I don't see any that could have sucked up to get in their position, but then I don't know all the mods.
