yeah when I was playing that game for the first time my little bro was in the room with me when I first encontered them and it scared him so much he had nightmares for atleast three years if I remember right may have been more. As for me the scariest character in a game would have to be the second boss from Diablo 2 that thing was like a giant mutated worm with ice powers and a human upper half.

Well, in Fatal Frame 2 DC, I found the girl with her neck broken to the side was pretty damn scary. Either that, or the dudes in the well. Again, or after you watch the cutscene with the girl killing the entire village and then the invincible spirit first shows up, that scared the hell out of me. Especially once I took a picture of it and the camera and it said "The camera had no effect." That made me go OH HELL...

Ya know what? Now that I remmeber it. I remember playing one of the REALLY OL SCHOOL Dragon Quest's for NES and running into a slime. For some odd reason that little blue thing just smiling at me scared the crap outta me, even now when I play DQ8 and I run into a slime I get a little shiver down my spine...Weird.

Edit: This was when I was really young, like...3-4 so don't make fun...Well you can but only a little.

I dun remember his name, but in Resident Evil 4, there was this midget dude who fused with his "right hand man"(a friggin monster), which created this huge friggin behemoth of a monster to defeat. You had to time it so his tentacles wouldn't hit you and so he would'nt chomp you're frigin head off. That was effing scary

You're celebrating because you just saved Termina from being smashed, Tael and Tatl are reunited...then the mask starts talking, it lifts up Skull Kid's body, beams itself into the Moon...Then you go into the moon, and find a hauntingly beautiful field, and around the single tree in the distance, the kids are dancing wearing the masks you got from the various bosses.

That's atmospheric. Then there's the actual boss fight.

First stage: Wow, the mask grew tentacles. This is not so bad.

Second stage: What the fuck?! It's dancing! o_O;

Third stage: ...oh my GOD.

Also, Kafka's right. Doom 3 is scary. ._.

Well, I have to say the first "level" of Land of the Dead: Road to Shindler's Green (or what ever it is) is pretty damn scary. Stuck on a farm with zombies and limited ammo. The worst part is when you find the rifle and are like OH SHIT!! IT HAS S%$^ for ammo!!! Then the black looking zombie comes....and you must run... oh god, i cant believe noones mentioned that one room in resident evil one(i believe). its a very narrow hallway, with a glass interrogation-room-like mirror lining it. as you walk past it, two zombie-dogs crash through it. no ominous warnings, so creepy music, no screams, no blood on the window, they came without warning. i actually screamed the first time i played it.

whats even more sadistic? in the remake of that game, a few years later, in that exact same room, the glass only cracked when you walked past it. no doubt eeryone who played the original were tensed up for the dogs, and the cracked glass freaked the hell out of me too.

Resident evil outbreak was cool for its realism. There wouldnt be a shot gun and 50 mags of handgun amo in a locker- you found a lead pipe.
