View Full Version : I have a total noob question about IDs.

I played for 2 years on the Dreamcast, up to level 79 on the XBox, and never really scratched the surface of IDs. All I know is they can effect drop rates. I'm aware of that much, but can they make it impossible for an item to drop? For example, if I want a Flowen's Sword, and I'm a Viridia, will it not drop under any circumstances for me in an offline game, or online game I created?

My bad if something like has already been answered on the front page. Forgive my laziness.

Section IDs determine what drops for you, and at what rates.
For example one type of weapon that you may get so often on one SecID that it drives you insane, may drive you insane trying to get on another SecID.
Along with this yes, there are some items that drop for some SecIDs and not others.

So to get that Flowens Sword you would need to make another character with a section ID that will provide a drop for it.

So you know too, the drops are determined by the Section ID of the player who creates the game, not who kills the monster.

Hope that explains it properly O.o

Those are the dropcharts, see the differences for yourself. If you don't have MS Excel, then heyf00l has dropcharts on IGN too... his are said to be "less accurate" though... I see no major differences... either works for me.

And on DreamCast, you probably never saw the difference in ID's because you probably never saw a red box! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif The drops in that version are insane!!!

They didn't have red boxes in DC, so you had to check every item that dropped.

The red boxes get you more excited, but the normal boxes are funny quick surprises XD

They weren't red?! http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

Think of how many times people must have landed those horrible droprates, but then not have known it because they never checked the box!!!

Those red boxes have such a nice color, they're beautiful, truly.

I booted up the Dreamcast version for nostalgias sake. In the first Ultimate Ruins room I found like three bloody arts, and a couple Custom Ray Ver.00s. My character was by no means legit back then. I was hitting those mobs for like 3k a piece. I recently discovered playing legit on the XBox, it's worth it for those pretty red boxes.

Thanks for the answers, dudes. I don't want a Flowen's Sword, that was just an example. I want me a Spread Needle. I use shotguns to avoid PSOs horrid targeting system, but those mobs in V.Hard Ruins move so damn fast, and Shotguns shoot so slow, it's a bad mix. I'll eventually get my hands on one.

If you check the Item Database, you'll find that Spread Needle can be found in several IDs.

With Greennill in Ultimate Ruins from Merlan @ 1/901
With Purplenum in Ultimate Ruins from Merlan @ 1/901
With Redria in Ultimate Ruins Dark from Bringer @ 1/359
With Yellowboze in Ultimate Ruins from Merlan @ 1/901

As for swords, you get a bunch of them on Skyly. If you're looking for a specific model..
If you just want a generic flowen's sword, take a skyly character.... anywhere, and you'll find a bunch, otherwise, look up the IDs.

skyly, oran, yellowboze - (fake)
greennill (3060)
skyly (3064)
bluefull (3067)
purplenum (3073)
pinkal (3077)
whitill (3079)
redria (3082)
oran (3083)
yellowboze (3084)

Yeah, I checked that, and my ID wasn't on there, hence why I asked my question. I'm a Viridia. Drat.

No they were orange = ???SPECIAL WEAPON in an orange box lol.

AND TO O/P flowens sword was a bad example as i think almost every id can find at leszt 1 type of flowens sword - however viridia is the ONLY id that can find every type of agito.

Ans are you playin US or EU xbox and if its EU wots your character named?

This site has drop charts too, seen here (http://www.pso-world.com/item_findings.php). They may not be complete yet, but that is what this thread (http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=106632&forum=6&5) is for. HeyF00l's guides do have some errors, due to the way he calculated them (have to look at all the drops closely though). Apparently the lower difficulties are worse.

I did, always. You never know what you might have drop.

I still check every box that drops, you never know, you might find that non rare with stupid %. They may not mean much, but I found many non rares with high %, raygun w/ 90 hit, kings laser w/ 100 dark are just a couple of examples. Like I said, they may not mean much, but kinda cool to have.

I've gotten several charge, demons and hell weapons with 50%+ hit by checking everything. More than just cool to have - they kick most of the uber's .....

case in point, I have some charge rippers with 50-hit that are every bit as effective as my Daylight Scar - 2000 damage per hit in the right conditions.
