Okay, since there won't really be classes in PSU, what role in combat would your character have?

(... There's not allready a topic on this, is there?)

Think there was a topic like this already. I've read a lot of people seem to be wanting a hybrid of something and another. Does anyone plan on doing a pure character build?

Edit: BTW welcome to the forums. http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Guns all the way. Just ask the guy with the fancy sword skills in Indiana Jones & The Raider of the Lost Ark. You know, the one Indiana just plain shot dead.

Yes.

I plan for my Newman to use mainly/only magic.

I Plan for my Cast to use only ranged/shooting weapons.

I plan for my beast to use mainly brute strengh.

I plan for my human to do whatever t3h f he wants though, due to the human class' balancedness.

I enjoy the idea off of playing off the races invidiual strengths.

I feel like I'm getting more out of the game.

I do not think a poll has been created for this particular topic. There has been one about which race you plan to pick.

I'm not sure yet what role my character is going to play. That is because I haven't decided on a primary character race yet. All of them seem fairly attractive and I will want to play in a style that efficiently utilizes the race's strengths.

I'll mainly play as a melee & tech newman for the most part, then I'd probably have a secondary Human character be a mixed bag,yet focusing more on techs then the rest.

My standard style for PSO & would most like to be the same for PSU:
+all possible chars & classes I can get (8 I guess) ;]
+semi-dual style for each, since this game now allows such thing; not quite a specialist or all-rounder:
--build mostly on the primary strength of that char class (melee, ranged, or techs, etc)
--a secondary 'back-up' skill that can temporarily substitude for the specialist

Good points...but do you have to stay in that one class? I like sabers but sometimes I use guns just in case of bad situations.

"I don't have time for this." *BLAM*

Hmm...my main character probably will be human, so they will mix things up. However, I'd like for them to the most proficient in the use of guns.

Well, I think it's stated that there is no true class like in PSO. There are only the 4 different races; of course, with strong & weak points for each race. So, you should certainly have room for various styles & not tied down to a single class like in PSO.
I think the theme for PSU is more, more options, more customizations, more time & with the delay, more waiting. ;D

I liked playing as a HUcast, so I will never give up my bladed weapons. However, I always used guns to damage enemies that were too powerful to kill close up (darn Merlans when I was under 100). I always wanted to use a Rifle class for quick level-ups when I was new to an area. This will only make things easier for me.

I used to use long range weapons like Mechguns with my FOmar back on PSOBB but gave up when I got to Ultimate due to allot of MISSing, switching to a Cane type weapon (can't remember name exactly, sounded like Cactus and had a gold pair of angel wings on the top that shot Foie blasts as its special.)

My human is going to be focused more towards melee prowess, but thats not to say I'll be forgetting about ranged weapons and techs. I'll be using all three styles but I plan to raise my character to be best at melee fighting.

I'll probably make a Cast and another human (Tech focused this time) character but rest assured I'll be doing a bit of melee with all of my characters. I'm not sure why but I liked meleeing with all of my characters (From time to time) in PSO so I'm sure it'll be the same in PSU.

Nothing but pure, unadultered Technique power for my main character. I've only found one video game that ever made meleeing look cooler than magic, and that was Fire Emblem.

Never was a real magic fan. Always liked the idea of rending the flesh from your enemies' bones, or putting a hole in their head when they don't know you're there. Only a couple of times was magery(?) worth it. (Grants is my friend) http://pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I shall probably make a Melee-based(with offensive techs only(MUST HAVE EARTH TECHS) oh and a little resta), some ranged to shoot baddies but mostly melee(and offense techs).

By the way, my character race shall be Newman, Mwhahahahaha...A melee newman, wanna see how it works out.

I didn't like playing as a specific role in PSO, so I mixed my roles:

Close Range Mage, high Def to defend and support allies.

A Ranger that Was uber with close range (thxs to a stag cutlery)

And A hunter that mostly used guns.

I hate JUST doing one thing, so I'm gonna make:
A Male newman Primary Tech, secondary Melee
A Female Beast Primary melee, secondary tech
A female Cast, pRIMARY range, then Melee
and A male human, Melee then range and tech.

Well, it depends on my chars. For what I have 'designed' now, heres how Im playing:

Masako: My main from PSO returns with improved melee abilities, but, Ill still have my techs. If I can just focus on the techs I want (I want to pick & choose), so, melee ability goes up, that would be perfect.

Dagor: My beast will most likely be pure melee in a traditional warrior sense. I may just put elements onto his weapons & thus, not need any form of spells. If I do use spells, it would probably be stat boosts to help him out.

Eventually, Ill try out SUV. Ill just watch ppl for now to see how it works. Given that I do make a cast, Ill probably go the other way & give him just guns. So, for now, Im voting for melee & techs.

I'll go for melee+range with my main character (male Cast).
Other combinations I may choose for my other characters are melee+tech and range+tech, but it will depend if I like this new tech system or not once I'm actually playing.

1. Make your standard HUmar type, giving him Saiyan hair.
2. Take on the occupation of mall-rat.
3. Stand around in a lobby all day, discussing random things.
4. Spam symbols/pics/icons in chat.
5. Start dancing when the music doesnt even fit.
6. Challenge others to a 'chair race'.

Thats not something Id see myself doing for so long. Idk how ppl do it. #3 you could do while in group. #4 you could do on an as needed basis (spam not necessary). But, that would be some 'noobish' things youd regale yourself to, should you wish to pursue this...um...job? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

yea i wuz thinkin tha same thang Blob http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
cuz ppl underestimate a Newman fighting close up

Heres my character:as follows(plz dont copy my names)

Lady Mercury: my main character Hunewearl from PSO-melee with improved and mostly techs Newman.

Prophecy:Cast only ranged maybe sum melee here and there. For SUV weps personally.

i think i started likeing the range weps cuz when i played PSO i mostly grouped with higher leveled ppl and since i was Hunewearl i couldnt keep up and i had 2 B close up anyway. so when i got a ranger i couldnt keep up but i could at least get sum kills shooting from all tha way across tha field http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I hope Grants makes a comeback at least (Or hell maybe even the Tsu line of techs), but PSO's Megid I didn't really care for. I want Megid to be like it was in the earlier versions of PS, a TP-consuming, all powerful technique of doom.

He said he wanted to be a stereotypical noob. Those were the guidelines to follow. I wouldnt suggest he SHOULD do that, just thats what one would do. I should hope someone detected the sarcasm in my post to know that it would be better for someone to NOT do that.
Anyway, yes, Im sure Grants & Megid are back in some way as you can put Light & Dark elements onto your weps. Whether these are the spells themselves or abilities like Photon Arts is anyone's guess. I wouldnt say its a long shot to see them return.

1. I did that! T_T
Not because I wanted to be a sayan, ( I dislike dbz quite alot.) but because that how my hair was in real life at the time. T_T

3. I'd have probly done that out of sheer boredom. Talking to new random people is fun sometimes.
