PC: The GIMP

Whenever I try to start a new image in the GIMP using File>New, it locks up. I can get around this by pasting from the clipboard, but it is an annoyance. I've tried reinstalling a few times, but that never worked. Should I uninstall the GIMP, Gaim, and the GTK+ Runtime Environment and reinstall all of them?

I am using Windows XP Pro on a 2.0 GHz Intel Pentium M Processor, 1024 MB RAM, and an 128 MB ATI Mobility Radeon X300.

Haven't tried anything yet, as normal reinstalls haven't worked in the past, and I am saving reinstalling GTK+, GIMP, and Gaim for last since I really dont want to loose all the custom name changes I did with Gaim.

I was waiting for other's opinions and ideas first.

I doubt this is of any help, but all I could find on it locking up had to do with WindowBlinds being installed.

I've never heard of it and Windows Search found nothing.


I'll completely uninstall GTK+, Gaim, and the GIMP when final Gaim 2.0 comes out.
