Sub-Zero is the quintessential fighting game icon. When you see that triangular blue and black suit with the mask, your mind instantly races from Mortal Kombat to video games in general to going to Pizza Hut just to play their MKII arcade game back in the day.

Another classic characterization is Ryu from Street Fighter, but I'd say to a much lesser extent than Sub-Zero. Plus, the guy can freeze you, which is arguably the most desired fighting game move of all time!

I chose Scorpion because- like Sub-Zero, he has the icionic two-tone outfit (all the ninjas in the earlier games being different coloured- their only visual difference).

The one thing that instantly reminded me of Mortal Kombat was the spear though.

Talim. She is vicious if you know how to play her exactly. Just keep the enemy off balance by rotating around them and they will crumble under you. Or Helena, another beautiful specialty character.

I believe in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game there were two samples. A "Come here" and a "Get over here!" The SNES version used "Come here!" while the Genesis used "Get over here!" From MKII on they stuck with "Get Over Here!" If memory serves me correctly anyway.
