So I created a new character gave her a mag (after one of memory cards gets corrupted). I didn't lose anything big. So I get to dragon and knock him down to low health and then cast pilla and lands down and kills me (he is dead as well). So I'm there lying with the dragon with the 'do you want to return to pioneer 2?' red screen so I go back up. I talk to the principal and guess what caves is now open...

Never happened to me before.

Happened to me the first time I'd ever beaten the dragon with my first character. He can still knock out your life points when he falls down dead when you're very low level :

I'm more surprised that I opened caves... I was at full health and his falling back to the ground did a critical on me with a lvl 4 Huney.

Defeating the Dragon opens up the Cave area.

You defeated the Dragon.
Doing so unlocked the Cave area.

I was thinking of the impression that I failed to kill the dragon because I died with him.

No, you killed him. That's why he fell on you. Hence, you still killed him anyway.

happened to my bro on Dark Falz, except his mag revived him so he still got the EXP
