View Full Version : Never forget to tape up...

I'm a boxer, and I was hitting the heavy bag for hours. I neglected (being the lazy person I am) to wrap my hands up before putting on the gloves, and this led to bad restults. Once I was done, I find that my knuckels are raw and bleeding. I didn't notice it while hitting cus I thought it was just normal pain. Well, to make the story shorter, I now have knuckels that have been oosing fibrinogen/blood for two days. THE FREAKING THING WON'T SCAB!

If anyone has a method to heal this, please leave a comment, I have a Lacrosse game on Sunday...

Has this happened to anyone else? Or is it just my dumb mistake?

I used to get bloody knuckles alot when I was training faithfully in American Kenpo. I did alot of bag work and something that works well for stopping the bleeding is to use Cayenne pepper. I may sting like all get out, but it clots the blood and heals the wound MUCH faster.

I should add that it has never stung when I've used it on cuts so chances are you may not feel a thing http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Alcohol will clean the wound, but fi you move youre hands around too much it will slow down the healing process.

Then all you can do is wait.

Dont you wish you had wolverines healing powers right about now?

Salt. Dip your knuckles in salt for about 10 mins.

WOW. I can guarantee that is a formula for EXTREME pain, but it might work the best.

Try Nu-Skin.

Just use the blood clotter spray on it. It kinda coagulates with your blood to make a natural and sythetic scab. Helps it heal faster too.

You don't want to do that, Nu-Skin cracks and peels when too much friction is applied.

Or they just know what closes a wound up.

Just suck up the pain. It's worth it in the end.

New-skin deffinetly isn't the answer. I've applied it onto wounds and it's broken from friction and pressure like someone said earlier, it didn't do much good in the end.

You might want to find something to bite on, takes mind off pain and wont hurt teeth as much if you cringe and grind.

Castor Oil makes the wound heal faster. Put some of that on and wrap it up in a cloth of some kind.

Oh man. So THATS why you're supposed to wrap up your hands. I figured there was a good reason. Well, how 'bout that.

...And how does everyone know so much about wound-remedys? It's cool and all, but I'm kinda surprised. I've had some nasty gashes in the past that would keep opening up during work. I sure wish I had known some of this then.

Yep, the wraps arn't for looks...

The soars are scabbed pretty good now (they don't soak off in water). The big game is tommrow, so wish me luck!

Thanks so much for all of the advice. The salt thing worked better than the CVS stuff... and hurt more too! Salt is the miracle cure!

If fibrinogen has been getting out of the cut, it should be scabbing, thats whats involved with the blood clotting process when reacting with air.
Im pretty sure what I said is right anyway.
