3. TheOneHero - Short Story (2) (http://www.pso-world.com/images/5th/fanworks/6/sshort06.html)

To refresh everyone on what the prizes were, here is the list:

First Place
Custom Avatar
Gold Trophy
50 entries into contest drawing

Second Place
Silver Trophy
25 entries into contest drawing

Third Place
Bronze Trophy
10 entries into contest drawing

To Everyone that Placed:
Don't worry, your additional red boxes will be entered into the main 5th Anniversary Red Box event before the drawing happens. If you placed in multiple categories, your entry totals will be added up. For example, TheOneHero will receive 20 red box entries since he placed 3rd in the Humorous Art and Humorous Short Story sections.

To the First Place Winners:
When choosing your custom avatar, make sure it is less than or equal to 64 x 64 pixels. If the avatar does not have any transparency in it, add a one pixel-wide black border around it. The avatar can be saved in gif or jpeg format. Once you've found an avatar you like, send it to me via PM. I'll review it to make sure it doesn't violate forum rules and it will then be added. Even though azjazo placed first in two categories, only one custom avatar will be handed out to him since it would be kind of hard to give him two...

To TheOneHero and azjazo:
I do not know whether only a single trophy will be displayed below your avatar or if multiple trophies will be shown. It just depends on how Tomeeboy chooses to implement that feature.

I would like to thank everyone that participated in the contest. There were several outstanding entries. Your participation helped to make this a very successful contest. PSO-World.com hopes to be able to hold more contests in the future. Be sure to stick around to see who the winner of the main contest is. We hope to have that drawing sometime later this week.

Congratulations to the winners, the majority of the entries were really nice.

Oodles of good entries all around. Gotta love that "O RPY?" http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

And a big thank you to the mods for hosting this contest--and getting everything done in a timely manner. Thumbs up!

Woot for me, too. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif Ryna, avatars should be PS/O/U-related, I assume? Or does anything appropriate go?

I didn't know I had to conceal my name but at least I didn't but my ID that I go by here ... x_x ... but yeah, I did the video, and it took lots of work x_x...

Again, everyones' entries were so awesome. It was great to see all the different artwork and it was fun in the end ^_^.

azjazo I think it was looks to me like he/she is gonna win the PSU pre-order cause that person got 2 first places O_O that's like what, a 100 entries of red boxes? I got a total of 45 so I'm not in a very good position... lol. I just found that interesting that not many ppl entered into the contest. If I had just known sooner I'd submit one of my drawing of PSU- though, sadly I don't have THAT good of CG skills that was shown in the first contest winner's art... if u know what I mean

CONGRATS EVERYONE!!

Congrats, everyone. There were some really amazing pieces of work that got turned in.

I feel kind of dumb, though. I misread the rules and thought that we were only allowed to enter one category. Eesh, and I had some great ideas for other pictures. Oh well. Maybe in five more years? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Anyway, it was great fun, and thanks to the PSOW staff for putting on the contest.

Yeah, there was a lot of confusion about that.

For future reference, I would just like to state that the standard rule is ONE CATEGORY PER ENTRY. It is NOT any of the following:

One category per participant
One entry per category
One entry per participant
One participant per entry

I reiterate, ONE CATEGORY PER ENTRY.

I will note that it'll be much sooner than five years before we have another contest. We've got some neat ideas planned for the near future, and we'll be sharing all of that as the time comes.

I, personally, don't think the way this was set up was very fair, especially since one person won first place in two catagories. Granted, they'll get two little trophies, but will they get two avatars to choose from?

If possible, avatars should be related to some sort of Phantasy Star game.

I'm very honored, thank you all for your votes, I'm so happy that you liked my work http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif, if any of you happen to visit Monterrey Mexico, I'll be more than happy to invite you to a nice Tacos restaurant http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Seriously, I'm verry happy, but I didnt think that my 150 or so entries to the raffle are gonna make me win the preorder, I'm not that lucky, and besides, I draw those for one reason: I'm a huge PSO fan

Thank you agan to the mods and all the staff for making so much effort in this countest, THEY should be getting a price for that http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

BTW, I writed a little about each of my entries here: http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=108734&forum=12&1 (before I knew the results)

Aside from than, I wonder how much time do I have to send the custom avatar? I kinda blocked now and I'd like to find one that suits me well (maybe drawing a special one)

Heh, do whatever you like & choose it well. Since you did win 1st place TWICE, but you only have ONE slot for the avatar. ;D

Oi, I hope no one is too disgruntled about my... uh... now postcount of one. Previously zero.

Anyway, since I am not even a regular poster (hey, when I get PSU, that might change), please let the second place winner of Anything Goes get the custom avatar. If that is possible.

Plus, if I do end up posting more, I love this Alys avatar. Alys is so darn cool.

Thanks!

Sorry guys, I am just ridiculously greedy for PSU ;_;

I think azjazo's two winning works should be compared to each other, to see which one had more votes. The second place winner of the catagory that the losing work was in should recieve the custom avatar.

That's just me, though.

I'm with Skorp and Eihwaz. That's actually part of the reason why I incorrectly thought we were restricted to one category: so no one could win multiple times. Anyway, since azjazo can't use 2 avatars, I think it would be nice to spread the love. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

If I got a single Vote I will do Mario's triple jump immediately upon seeing said info, complete with YAHOO. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Definitely not up to par with the great stuff submitted to the contest, which means more practice for the next go round!

It was a good contest with some great entries...if I checked the boards more frequently I probably would've done something better than what I did (Yuji Naka MS Painted onto Shiggy? Yea..)

I submitted (and did) my entries the night of, by chance of randomly coming back to PSOW...which also means I only raked in 20 or so red boxes for the raffle.

But yea, there were some great entries (the winning rappy illustration was my favorite)...gotta admit though I was expecting more participants.

We'll do a better job of clarifying the rules when we hold the next contest. I thought that they had been clarified, but I guess there was still some confusion.

The problem here is that azjazo is the second place winner and he already won a custom avatar (two actually...)

That solution would work well if all of the categories received the same total number of votes. Unfortunately, the total number of votes varied from category to category. It would be unfair to compare the vote totals of the second place winners in this case.

Every entry received more than one vote. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Tomeeboy has requested that the vote totals should not be public. If you're really want to know where you placed in a category, send me a PM and I'll give you an approximate idea.

To the people that placed:
As a special 5th Anniversary Contest Bonus, it has been decided to award one custom avatar to everyone that placed in the contest, even if you placed multiple times. If you do not want the custom avatar, you are free to decline it. Your avatar should be 64 x 64 pixels or less. If the avatar does not have a transparent region, it should have a 1 pixel-wide black border around it. All avatars should be PS/O/U related. Once you've picked/designed an avatar, send it to me via the Private Message system. I'll review it to make sure it does not break any forum rules.

This is cool, I was really hoping for a custom avy. Good to know everyone who place gets one. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Question, once you pick it, will that be your avatar for as long as you're on PSOw? Or can you switch to one provided by PSOw then switch back to the custom when you want to?

If it does stay permanently, let's say you win another custom avatar in another contest; are you allowed to change it then?

Your avatar will stay with you until you decide to change it. If you switch back to a normal PSOW one, you'll have to get an administrator to set the custom one back up (if you want it again).

Please keep in mind that the avatar you pick for this contest will probably be with you for a long time.

Holy crap, that's awesome. I'll have to freak out now trying to decide what I want as an avatar. Thanks, guys.

The question I have is about the size: it's 64x64, including the 1 pixel black border, right?

That includes the black border. So, you have a 62 x 62 area to work with.
