Working with the tablet

This is just some practice I did tonight with my tablet. I'm tring to get better at drawing digitally in photoshop, so I can cut down on my need to scan and clean things constantly. Also I've been wanting to draw a Hildebear for a while now for some reason.

I will say, however, for the purpose of making lineart for a finished color product. All the extra sketchy lines make for a lot of cleanup later. So if time is a concern, keep it in mind.

Its also really easy to strengthen your lines. Just need to make another layer with the lineart on it and set it to multiply. Just keep in mind that this will also highlight all those pesky stray marks as well~

Yeah tablets are a gas. I wasnt really worried about the stray marks much on this since its just sketch practice. I think if I was to do a finished picture, I would have just turned the original lines blue, then created a new layer and drawn the finished image over it. Then I could just hide the blue sketch lines.
Then again, I've always really loved the sketchy look, even though my finished stuff tends to be hyper clean.

I really like the Hildebear's face in that pic. You didn't try too hard to make him scary by giving him an overly ferocious expression. That kind of brings it to life for me because he's just casually opening his mouth with an alpha-male expression instead of "I AM SCARY, RIGHT???". Cool beans, man.

Nice work on that 'bear, I would really like a tablet, but I cant get a nice one here in Mexico T.T and I dont own a car to travel to Mcallen or Laredo to look for one, I'll try a 5x4 one soon.

BTW, I would like to see more of your clay modeling tutorials

It just so happens my spring break is coming up next week, and I plan to take the free time to continue my work on my sculpture. This smemster has been kicking my ars so bad I havent had any time to do stuff for myself. Except to for the odd quick sketch now and then. Even my unfinished contest peice put me pretty well behind in my school work.
