Norton Antivirus, I hate you... completely and utterly. I've even gone so far as to uninstall you TWICE!! How you still exist on my computer baffles me every day. And you are useless to boot!

How does that work?!? You can manage to find them, but the processes of deletion and/or quarantine that are programmed into you manage to ~escape~ your grasp?! Well, I'm glad to find out I have some spyware on my computer. Could you take some time to get rid of them? No? Oh, well thanks for trying... Wait, you didn't try? >.<

If that was the only problem, you wouldn't make me so mad. But you decide to pop up during the absolute worst times and try to scan and be useless. My computer is so crappy that the extra stress and loading make it freeze. I didn't need to know 'blahblah.blah' needed to be scanned, because that's the freakin' program I'm running!! And guess what, you just made it stop. At least that magical little 'ctr+alt+del' combo works on this damn thing.

BTW, I hate Windows Movie Maker as well... but that's just because he's a jackass...

right click, delete from list
ftw

Not much you can do about norton though. Go poke around microsoft.com and look for their antivirus thing. Heard it's rather efficent.

That's strange, my sister seemed to remove it quite easily from our computer. Then again, she's good at destroying things.

Did you happen to check the manual when it comes to certain file types?

According to the 2005 edition manual I have, it says if its a file with an extension of the following...

.exe
.doc
.dot
.xis

...then you are to use the Repair Wizard to get rid of the infection.

Chances are it could be a file (or a few in your case) with one of those extensions.

I have other programs and I've already fixed those viruses. I've also gone into the list and 'deleted' Norton Antivirus, but that just got rid of that shortcut. When I went into 'Add/Remove Programs' and got rid of it, it was removed from that list but is still on my computer. Now I don't have any shortcuts to access it and its still there, popping up and pissing me off. When I got this computer it was already installed and I had no manual as well. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Norton sucks. It's always giving my friend a hard time. I'm glad I never fell into the trap of using that.

My AVG works good, it hide in the taskbar, and doesn't use that many system resources.

Get rid of it. Aside from other paid software, there are some good free alternatives to Norton. I, for one, got tired of it.

Once, it scanned 0 infected files for a week. I find it suspicious, and when I get McAffee, I find that my machine has been a hive for months. And I won't even talk about the firewall - So good, I can't even access the internet with any program, no matter how slots I open or how many programs I allow Norton to grant access.

Yes norton sux. When I removed it off of my laptop, it would still look for updates every day. I had to delete anything with "Symantic" in the name. Appearently that did the job. McAfee is way better, and their firewall actually works!

i hate norton also... it had the balls to say: NORTON HAS DETECTED 10 UNKNOWN THREATS ON YOUR COMPUTER! Then i could say: protect me OR cancel. Tough a choic as it was i chose PROTECT ME. Then Norton said: NORTON COULD NOT PROTECT YOU FROM UNKNOWN THREAT. After this i screamed a profanity at my computer and realized it needed to be updated.... norton still sucks.
