Anyone getting this? Other than me http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
I don't have a X360 so I'm getting it for PC, and hopefully my 6800GS does a decent job of running it.

This game has so much depth in it, amazing scenery, and a lot of great innovation in gameplay. Check out the screenshots here:

Yeah, I've had mine on pre-order. The Collector's Edition for the 360. My comp is more than capable of handling it, but I'd rather get it for the 360(thus so I can multitask).

Alot of new trailers and pictures at TeamXbox (http://games.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1041/The-Elder-Scrolls-IV-Oblivion/).

I really really want it. But I need a job first...and I gotta get a Polish Mauser out of layaway first. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I loved Morrowind though, probably have more hours into it then PSO.

Eh. It certainly looks pretty, but I just couldn't get into Morrowind. Particularly the battle system. Since most of the previews I've read have said it pretty much plays just like Morrowind did... not really too tempting to me.

Not that it matters, though. My PC would never be able to run that and I don't have a 360.

I think I will be disappearing for a while when this comes out.

Actually, the combat system is overhauled. You can cast spells as well as melee/range attack at the same time, without swapping. So say you're swinging a sword and defending with a shield, you can sling a spell anytime you want or get the opportunity with the press of a button, rather than having to swap and disarm yourself.

Blocking is now manual(with shield or weapon, even hands). As well, the physics engine really shines when you're bashing someone around or using spells(the paralyze spell, combined with the Havoc physics engine, means when you use it on an enemy, they freeze mid-stride and actually fall over).

The Dev-blogs give alot of info on what new things are capable in-game, and to be honest, even if it had the exact same play mechanics as the original, the updated graphics and physics engine would be more than enough for me to pick it up.

They've been advertising it in magizines and junk since july, I really hope it's worth the wait when it finally comes out.

That's really much less of a complete overhaul than what I would want to make the Elder Scrolls games fun to me. I never even got to the point of spell-casting when I was playing (although I guess that had something to do with my class, I guess?) so that's not really an issue for me. Sounds good for fans of the game, though.

Yes, but also dissappointed. I can't afford and do not like the Xbox 360 so far. I'm betting my money on a PS3 or the PC version.

I am a veteran of Morrowind, and I truly enjoy all the Elder Scrolls games. This one looks majestic.

Hopefully they don't pull another pc Morrowind on us with it and make it almost unplayable on moden systems. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Remember when Morrowind came out and not many people could even run it with a decent framerate even on low settings? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

^That's what I'm afraid of. I hope one of you post about how well it performs on a decent gaming PC before I get it.

If my PC can't run this thing in at least 30 FPS then I might have to look into getting a X360 to play this game (will get one for halo 3 eventually anyways, so I don't mind buying one now).

I would be excited about it if I had a 360 and/or a computer strong enough to handle it. Sadly I have neither so I'ma have to convince one of my friends to buy it so I can leech off of them.

I upgraded my video card inticipating this game.

*twitches with excitement*

I may twitch with death if I can't run it.

As you can tell from my sig I picked up a 360 when a friend told me about Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter. I will be picking up Oblivion for it as soon as the stores around here recieve their shipment.

I seriously doubt my PC can run Oblivion at a solid framerate..then again we might be in for a surprise.

Got the 360 version last night. The following will contain mild spoilers.

So, got it home and went in-game. I had the intention of making a dark elf character, merely because my original argonian on the Xbox version became a God-like character with all the relics and rare weapons/armors/items, and could'nt wear boots or closed helms.

However, after looking at the character creation tool, and getting a dark elf made, I did a 180 and got into making another argonian. Let me just say, that the character creation is AMAZINGLY detailed. I spent a good 30-45 minutes on that alone.

Got in-game, gorgeous. Alot of amazing effects that are better than I thought they'd have been. Also, argonians and khajit can wear boots this time around, thanks to their legs/feet being modeled in a less 'beastial' fashion.

Once you get out into the actual outside world though, you are just thrown in awe at the overall viewdistance for terrain. There is basically no real fog that cuts off terrain up ahead of you(unless, of course, it's foggy as an environmental effect, but on a clear day, you can see the terrain clear to the mountains). There is a draw-in distance, obviously, but it is very well done.

Players who wanted to sling spells in the middle of combat are in for a good treat as well, I was setting things on fire and actually knocking people around with power moves via the use of my sword(and yes, it is very satisfying to lunge at an opponent, connect with them in a killing blow and send their corpse flailing backwards).

The skill system is vastly improved. There are tiers of novice, apprentice, journeyman, expert and master. 10-24 novice, 25-49 aprentice, 50-74 journeyman, etc and every tier gives you an increased ability in that field. So for Marksman, you can go from being fatigued by holding a bow drawn, to no fatigue loss, to zooming ability, to chance of knocking someone down with your shot, clear up to finally being able to paralysing them when you become a master.

Oh, and the ability to instantly travel to major places helps(the ingame clock still counts down the amount of time had you went there on your own, but no more trekking if you don't want to.) Certainly good for questing, but I always enjoyed trekking through every bit of Morrowind.

So, yeaaah. Pretty damn good. Granted, there is a single problem, and thats with extended play it makes so much use of the HD that it's data gets fragmented. But there is an easy enough fix for that. Right here (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10531/Oblivion-Fragmented-Cache-Data-Fix/).
