Day 6 Content:
Did you ever wonder what PSOW looked like back in 2001? Well, I'll be posing some screenshots from late April 2001 today.

At this point in time, PSO-World was running its first Fan Art Contest and was asking people to vote for the winners. Also, the release Version 2 loomed on the horizon.

Do these items look familiar? They should. We've been hunting them for the last 5 years! Of course, most of the rares from this period looked like standard items. Something else to note is the non-standard weapon-types.

Lavis Cannon (http://www.pso-world.com/images/rynaspicturestash/laviscannon.png)
Back in 2001, the Lavis Cannon was the ultimate rare weapon. The only way to earn it was to win an official Sega contest or hack it.

I wasn't able to find the date that PSOW moved to planetdreamcast. Based on this news story (http://www.pso-world.com/article.php?sid=325), I'm lead to believe that it happened somewhere in mid-2001.

The 2003 site history is now up. Due to real-life issues, I didn't have the time to write a full narrative for it. The narrative for 2003 would have been longer than 2001's. So, I put together a brief highlights section along with the monthly summary.

I'm working on a narrative for 2004. It is amazing how much time a person can save in writing when a website is down for a couple of months.

The 2004 Site History has been added. I was able to find enough time to write a narrative for it.

The 2001 Site History has been revised a bit. I discovered that Mistkerl_Zwo and Ragnarok became staff members much earlier than what I was lead to believe. Also, PSOW moved over to Gamespy around the middle of May, but Gamespy's servers were unable to handle the site. So, PSOW had to move back to its old server for a few weeks while Gamespy put a new server into operation.

The guide was setup to include a history of PSO too since it dovetails with PSO-World's history. During the site's "quiet times," the PSO History becomes more noticeable.

Unfortunately, most of the forum archive for 2001 has been lost. That makes finding the first posts for people like Abdur impossible. However, you can about the personal details of certain "legendary" people by visiting the Member Spotlight (http://www.pso-world.com/memberspotlight.php) area.

I rememebr back when Ep3 was released in the states, the Ep1&2 areas went deserted. After about a month or two, the forums started to split into two groups, the Ep1&2, and the Ep3.

What I find kind of lacking is the overall experience of the forums in each time period. I know that's a little difficult to archive, but it maybe it might be possible to interview users about it.
