Part 2 of experimentation.
This is a lot harder. Nothing flows in this picture, no hair, no robe. It was harder to create movement, hence there kinda is none. With this one I added a lot more rough lines, it looks a lot more jagged. I had a lot of fun with the lines. The funny thing is, Zu just sorta formed himself from a blob.

Thanks to Ryna for suggesting weapons for Zu. I think the Jouren rather suit him, no? :>

And thank goodness Zu didn't end up looking like Grey Fox. XD

Somehow it reminds me of Amano!

The stark white provides quite an interesting, eerie feel. I'm curious about the process. I'm guessing you started out with a light blue background?

It came out good in the end!

I like it. i could never do something that good. my area of art is landscapes and buildings. and they are all sketches when i try to color them in i think it looks horrid and chunk it. but back to the topic i think its a really good piece of artwork.

Friggin' awesome. I'm really loving these experiments.

I'm seriously going to have to ask how I can do that in Photoshop, because I'm crazy jealous.

I'm liking where these are going.

Planning on doing anymore?

Heh, Si'ev looks... well, he looks like I could imagine a FOnewm looking! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

You should try a RAcast or something, heh. They might work well in the style... Maybe.

It looks as though main shapes are carved out of a block of color, details are added later. Working backwards from how traditional artwork is created.

I promised Sef I will show him some "in progress" picture from start to finish. So erm. Ya. Thought I'd share!

Zu starts off in a pink blob. It suprised me how well he took shape from just a few strokes.

Originally I wanted to draw him with a dead Hildetorr. But it didn't quite fit. So I murdere that torr.

Everyone's favourite newm took his place.

Then we like, fast forward. SO everyone is in black now. A lot more details are being added in. In Si'ev's case, it was drawn in. In Zu's case, it was erased out.

http://www.whats-here.com/fun/goodies/makingzu/zu9.gif
Fast forward again. Zu has a new head which seem to balance out with Si'ev's facing other way better. I elongated his arms a little more. Added in Jouren, and started to slab colours in the back. It was the pale blue, then more colours were added as I went on.

From then on to finish it was basically adding more colours, moving things around a little bit. Ya.

Man, these experiments are really awesome. I love the simple, stark nature of this one particularly. The background, while very simple, adds a lot to the mood of this picture.

Wowza. I think my biggest problem with doing something like that would be I would keep trying to clean it up too much.

Navster, you wouldn't mind if I tried fooling around with that style, would you? It's just very intriguing.

I'd love to see what you can come up with. :>

Ya. I am a messy person. Clean lines just isn't my thing. That's why I can never draw like fofo. :>
