I read off some a site a while back and it said the longer your play time is on your character the higher your probability is for rare drops. Is this true by any chance?

The more you play the more chances you get to find rares.
Simple logic.
So yes and no. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
There's no way to test or prove a greater amount of overall playtime/Amount of rares found.
The more you play, (of course) the more rares you will find. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif
If drop rates went up based on hours played, we should all just leave PSO on all day everyday, come back in a week and start finding everything!
But it doesn't.

There is no direct correlation.

You could theoretically play for thousands of hours, and not get any rare drops (though you'd be horribly unlucky), Likewise, you could play for 5 minutes and find a ton of rares.
However, the more you play, the more stuff you kill, the more chances at rare drops- though nothing guaranteed.

>_> The more you play, the more drops you 'should' have, simple really.
More time=More monsters killed=Higher chance of drops being made.
But, there is no link.

It's too bad luck level in the game doesn't have anything to do with finding rare drops.
