well, I finally got around to rendering some shots.

I never got as far as I wanted, but I'm going to keep working at it untill I'm satisfied.

I am currently working on a Zanba.

next will be a set of Rati and a Berdysh

EDIT: oh yeah, and if anyone sees any problems with my proportion, PLEASE tell me. It's quite easy to fix. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

The legs seem a bit too long, or maybe it's the arms are too short...Um. I'm sure someone else can clear it up.

But otherwise it's quite nice, can't wait for more. :E

I am totally in favor of that equipment set. Awesome! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

The actual render looks very nice. What color(s) is this gonna be when you're finished?

The only problem I see is that you choice to do a hucast while I did a Human. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

But it looks great.

looks quite good so far, though dont forget that the shoulder gaurds on a Hucast arnt just perfectly up and down like that. They are slightly concave, and I think down just a bit further on the arm. Still, all that can of course, be up t the artists interpretation. Lord knows I make my own. I can't remember, was this supposed to be more tuned to lower poly gaming type models, or full render type? If its the higher poly, you might try smoothing out some of the chest area and giving a bit more anatomy to the limbs. Otherwise, it looks good, dern good. One cool thing to do, once you have the model built to your liking, is import it into Zbrush and start painting on a highres normal map. The program makes it insanely easy. You can get details on something in less than a few hours that would take days/weeks of hard modeling in maya/3dsmax.

This advice is from bro. Being from the same program and all.
He said you shouldn't put in way too much details onto the model, unless you don't plan to rig it. Put more of the details into the texture, like, the three holes on the head, the dent in the breast plate. Not just for the sake of having things running easier but also for your own sake, time and effort-wise.

He also mentioned it would be a good idea to always build things in a T-pose. Good habit to get into. :>

What program did you use for this? I'm currently doing a piece for University- a 3D model of Freddie Mercury from Queen http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif It's so hard.

Anyway, looks great, and I'd agree with the T-Pose, that's the standard way to model bipedal lifeforms. I really need to learn how to model like that, I find it really difficult http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Awesome, that looks great. As to the legs, the HUcast I have now actually matches up just about perfect with the model, so I think those are fine. Nice work. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

thanks for the input guys. For the T pose, I was just too lazy put put it in that position. As for textures, I havn't learned how do them yet, so that's why the detail was set in.

I used Maya 7.0, and I think it took me abou 48 solid hours to finish. :/

Wow, Scott, that's awesome. I'd love to see if you could master soft curvy textures one day. ;o You know, in your spare time. <_<
