Is 50% a reasonable drop rate for rare monsters.
To me it's a rip off. On my attempt on getting the frozen shooter, the first five Hideltorrs dropped money and some dumb common weapon.

We all know statistic sucks.

1/2 is easy, there's a decent enough chance of a drop. When its 1/22, or worse, 1/205, you know your rare's probably not gonna drop.

1/2 is great, 50% chance of getting ripped out of a drop is fine.

What Uriko said. 1/2 is perfectly fine for a 10-star rare.

I agree with Uriko and Kef. For a 10-star rare, I defintely think it's fine for a 50% drop rate from a rare monster.

Not only that, 1/2 for a Frozen Shooter is a godsend. I'm kinda surprised it's not higher.

It went on to ten Hildeltorrs in a row before I decided to try a new strategy. I found out that rare monsters are very sensitive to who's there. Because I was doing the Forest of Sorrow quest and fought a Hildeltorr on each run. All I got was money and some common weapon, but when I did it alone and not a quest, the first Hildeltorr gave me my Frozen Shooter.

1/2 is fine.

Is that also true for common enemies, because I've done countless runs of From the Depths and Dark Bring won't drop my needle, other enemes don't drop their rares either, except for the photon drops and rares from boxes.

I wish Hildetorrs were as common for you as they are for me.

And as for the question, no. Lady Luck has been, as I put it "laughing at me from the depths of hell".

It's as if anything involving luck that I believe in just is a faint dream for me http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

its not sensitive on "who is there" its just luck and coincidence you got the fs on that run alone

Then you give it a try on the Forest of Sorrow quest.

i in the future will hunt a weapon called twin blaze from a pouily slime
rare criature is 1/1000 on ver.2 the weapon is 1/114
so ya 50% is perfect

Why would quests affect drop rates? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Drop rates are drop rates.

well.....on ver.2 the quests don't give rares, the big boxes are empty 90% of the times and when you find something it is a gladius or smething with less 9 stars

Yes it's extremely reasonable, with drops like 1/2 then you can find rares in like an hour or two.

yes and no, first you have to go through the 1/512 chance of seeing the guy then you have 1/2, that being said its extremely reasonable unlike the magic stone drop from a hildetorr

It's a little tougher on BB. Without piping it can take a lot longer if you're unlucky. But I'd have to agree, 1/2 is a great rate for rare enemy drops.

1/2 is a good rate for a rare monster's drop. I had to kill 3 torrs to get my Frozen Shooter, took me a week in all, not bad.

Compared to 1/21 from a Mil Lily (Agito 1975), it's great.

Yeah, it's about as good as it gets. If you don't get it, then try again... and again. I have never 'piped' one rare enemy. Never worked for me. That might deal with the fact I never found many weapons.

The only enemies I've had any luck piping with are Pal Rappies and Mil Lilies. I've still NEVER seen a Hildetorr and only seen two Hildeblues. And red slimes are just well. I've only ever seen two, and unfortunately neither of them were when I wanted to see them (though I'm not ungrateful for the God/Body or the Devil/Technique...)

I just want to put my vote in but first realize that:
I am generally patient
I have a knack for figureing out whether probabilities are wrong
I have killed approximately 1200 hidelts in ultimate forest of sorrows with redria.
my route maximizes hidelts versus other monster ratio.
I have leveled up from 119 to 122 solely on this quest.
I have never encountered a hildetorr during this time
I have never gotten my GOD/BATTLE!!!
Also no one has dropped a rare, PD's arent really considered a rare drop, only rares I have gotten were from boxes.
I have beaten all offline quests in episode 1 and I have pso plus for GC.

So how come I can't get a god battle? should I just do regular ultimate forest runs? or does the fact that I have already beaten the quest make it so the monsters will never drop rares?

just bad luck =/

took me sixs torrs to get a frozen shooter, and five pals to get a sacred cloth...
forest's revenge for getting the real agito after six pals =p.

I think its fine since there is the piping glitch. It makes it easier to find the rare monsters so all you really need to do is keep piping. Sure it takes alot of time but it's worth it. and its alot higher than all the other drop rates. The only problem is that you can't pipe on BB, but i'm on GC so that doesn't concern me http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

EricG

Well supposedly I should average 1 god/battle every 371 hidelts, but I was pointing out that I should have had around 3 or 4 by now and seen at least 2 torrs, yet I found neither.

yeah im on gc too, but pipin takes tooooo long so i keep doing quest runs so i just dont see just one type of enemy like on forest of sorrow i found a pal rappy then in another 3-4 runs i found a hildetorr. the pal dropped a red partisian and torr dropped frozen shooter im a whitill

@EricG: This shit happens, man, but uh... 119-122? That's a drop in the bucket actually. I've found several God/Battles but that's going from the late 100s to 140.

ahhh!! I just got one!!! I guess I was griping a few runs short. The game really does teach patience if you want the special drops.
