View Full Version : Dreamcast PSO Servers to Undergo Maintenance?

It seems so, but I can't read Japanese (I ran it through Babelfish, but that still obviously didn't produce the result I am looking for). Could someone fully translate this for me because I need to know when the servers will be going back up as I have a Japanese copy of PSO Ver. 2 and I need to get online to see if there are quests to download.

Thanks in advance.

Ah, yeah, I sort of forgot about that, heh... the game will be free to play online starting May 20.

Was free all along if you had a PAL copy of the game!

The Dreamcast version of PSO is set to become free-to-play for Japanese players on the 20th. Since the maintenance is scheduled for the same day, it is probably safe to say that it is tied to the game becoming free.

though u still would need an ISAO account to connect yes?

Right, you would still need an account. They're somewhat easy to create, but the true difficulty lies in them actually staying active for more than a few days as they tend to be deleted quickly if people from outside of Japan are the owners of the said account.

The Web site has a pretty big update... it looks like in order to successfully connect to the server now, we'll have to adjust the primary and secondary DNS, for instance.

EDIT: I've been able to successfully alter my settings (although Babelfish isn't the best translator, heh) and have connected online. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Now that all the existing official DC servers are free does that make DC private free servers legal?

That is a question for a new thread.

Speaking in terms of the site policy, no. Discussion of private Dreamcast servers is still off-limits.

well ever since the server matience USA DCv2 users have not been able to get on the private servers. This seems to be due to a HL problem. im still looking into it. when one connects they get the message. "the line has been disconnected due to networks errors"

well it would seem this is the case. DC USA V2 has become useless in connecting to private server. it seems the HL server setup is different now. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif So unless someone can remove the HL check from the USA PSO v2 game its futile. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Damn. That's a buzz kill to quite a few players...

Better not get into this too much though, since it is against site policy.

EDIT: Don't talk about private servers.

Just out of curiousity, anybody tried using the new DNS settings on the US ver?

I don't think anyone has, but I don't think it would work because of the serial checks.
