Well the topic basically says it http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

I'm just wondering what I need to be able to play something like my Gamecube on my Computer

I remember seeing something that connects to the Computer that has the R/W/Y plugs needed for a system, but I am wondering what exactly is needed http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Get some type of tv tuner device. For better picture quality get something that supports S-Video.
TV Tuners (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?N=2010380047+1148510222&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=47)

Recommendation:
Hauppauge WINTV401 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815116606)

And if you want a bit more tweaking options get DScaler as well. It's a free TV application for capture cards. Mind you that sometimes onboard sound can be a bit funky to get working well with tuner cards, although it is completely possible. If anything though, even a simple $15 soundcard would aleviate those problems.

DScaler homepage and downloads are here: http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/

Currently version 5 is yet unreleased with 4.1.15 being the newest.

I got the one you suggested Violet, but once I got home and got a friend to help me, we found out it doesn't fit.

that has 3 things on it, but the ones on my comp has only 2 >.>;;; like basically teh same except it only has one tab on the side, the rest is solid http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

god I suck with this stuff ._.

It will still fit lol. It's just a plain PCI card. I know that the card has (3) tabs and thats fine, it will still fit into the PCI slot on your pc. All PCI slots on every pc in the world have that exact size and shape (with 2 slot areas.) It will fit, trust me http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

well when we put it next to it, it didn't seem to line up with the slot to open to the back?

should I try a lower slot?

~edit~

The slots for the cards don't seem to line up with the openings for the back where the slot parts come out

I'm not entirely sure what you are describing. Is it possible for you to take a picture of it and post it?
I think what you are saying is that it doesn't seem to align properly with the expansion slot on the back of the case. You may have to GENTLY apply a small amount of pressure to get it to line up properly, but don't force it. Sometimes it LOOKS like the expansion slot it should fit into and the expansion slot it actually DOES fit into are different and you may have to open an expansion slot either one higher or one lower (hope that made sense lol.)

If you have an expansion slot open and it looks like the card needs to go down one PCI slot than go ahead and go with a lower slot or go with a lower expansion slot openning.

How are you connecting the GC? Are you using S-Video?

Super laggy? Sounds like the problem I had with my TV Wonder card. The way I fixed it was by using DScaler. For whatever reason the default software (I have a Hauppauge capture device as well) always seems to 'lag up'. Even after proper drivers are installed it still refuses to work properly in the TV software included with the card. Yet, a free program works just fine with all of my cards (even with the poor support it has with ATI capture cards it still does better). Oddly enough the lag only occurs with the S-Video and Composite inputs, analog is essentially unaffected. It's been that way since... MMC 8.7 I think it was.

I dun have the s-video cables for GC http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif so I using composite

and I think I shall have to try DScaler sometime >.>

I'm not sure exactly what kind you would want, but here is a S-Video cable for Gamecube (N64, SNES work too) for $7.96 at Wal-Mart. There are universal S-Video cables that generally work with all three systems and those tend to work great even with the cheapo ones like MadCatz.

would the s-Video be as laggy as composite when just used without DScaler?

~edit~

Type properly Eclair!!! DX

and DScalers works really well http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif after toyign with the interlace stuff, I found one that lets them play really well http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif thanks you two http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I would assume it would be, but I suppose there could be an issue in how it interperits composite analog signals or in the method of conversion.
