View Full Version : Percents - Higher in Certain Areas?

Note - "areas" as in Forest, Caves, etc.

While I've been hunting for numerous regular weapons with high %'s, a question came to mind. Does the particular area you're playing in effect the percents on those untekked weapons? Or better put, do areas such as Ruins and Seabed drop untekked weps with higher %'s on them?

For example, I know I've found weapons in Ruins with considerably higher percents than those same weapons in Forest. I can't tell if this is a coincidence or not.

If levels do not affect percents, than hunting weapon types with specific id's (i.e. greenill and rifles) would be the only option to increase a chance of finding something with high %'s, correct? As in simply finding more rifles with a greenill would increase the chance of getting one with uber %'s.

Or are percents completely random regardless and I am looking too much into it?

Sorry, I know it's a shitload of questions. This is just one of those random things that I can't believe I still don't understand after my 3 years of playing.

Heh, I know what you are poking at. It's one of the many hidden info that PSO never tells. It takes keen eyes & lotsa observations to notice this kind of things.

There were charts for this info, but unfortunately I am unable to locate them at the moment. (Perhaps, I'll have them uploaded to PSOW if our guide maker is available.)

For example, for Ult Ep 1, this is what I have..

Ep.1- Ult None Native A. Beast Machine Dark Hit
Forest 1 25% 30% 19% 13% 8% 5%
Forest 2 25% 30% 19% 13% 8% 5%
Cave 1 25% 11% 30% 19% 10% 5%
Cave 2 25% 11% 30% 19% 10% 5%
Cave 3 25% 9% 30% 21% 10% 5%
Mine 1 25% 6% 12% 32% 20% 5%
Mine 2 25% 6% 12% 32% 20% 5%
Ruins 1 25% 20% 7% 11% 32% 5%
Ruins 2 25% 20% 7% 11% 32% 5%
Ruins 3 25% 13% 13% 12% 32% 5%

The other guide that has an important relation to this is

Match them up & you should see things clearer, I hope. ;]

Yeah, charts would be fantastic; I'll be on the lookout if you find them. Thanks Dhylec.

I've noticed this. Also, it would seem that the harder the area, the more likely regular weapons will be of the ???? variety and more likely to have level 4 specials.

Alright, based off the info in that other guide, there are 6 patterns to %'s. Those numbers underneath the patterns represent the chance for a particular percent to be on an untekked weapon, correct? If so, it's no wonder I've hardly found anything over 40%, virtually everything higher than that is at .01%.

For the chart you posted, are those average %'s of weapons in that area?

Thanks again.

Well, they are the distributions for the drop %. Add them across & you should get 100. ;]
Btw, I did not compile that data.

Oh, ok. So basically that tells you where it would be ideal to hunt for a weapon with a specific % type, like caves for a.beast. It shows why hit% is a pain in the ass.

It appears that finding a weapon with high % is going to take in a combination of factors, such as where you are hunting, what id you are hunting with (if you are looking for a certain type of weapon), and the random chance of the pattern you get.

Unfortunately, I/we still don't know if a level like Seabed will make overall percentages naturally higher.

Yeah, pretty much that.

Heh, I might be able to help ya with that. ;]

Where did you get that, Dhylec?

Here is the full chart: http://romain.bernardi.free.fr/pso/parates.html

I never allowed anyone but Tycho to use this info, let me know if a site is stealing guides.

Nah, it's not on any site; it's in my guide collection/reference.
