View Full Version : Discrimination, I say!

I've been going through a lot of drama lately, and I just need to vent it out...

Take for instance, this event that took place not but a couple of months ago.
A week before Thanksgiving. My mom and stepdad were driving home from church. (I was at my grandma's for the weekend) My stepdad was driving (He's black, and in a hick town, that's not so good.) and is pulled over for a license plate light being out (WTF?) They take him and mom out of the car and run his license. Then, they say he's an illegal alien and hauled him off to jail. (He's lived here for all of his life, but his mom birthed him in Jamaica. That's the stupid part. She gave birth to him there, then immediately came back over and stayed in America without getting him any papers or anything.)

So here we are, going out to the jail, getting attourneys, etc. when out of the blue they're sending him to Jamaica because he was born there. I was absolutely infuriated the night I came home to find this out. Who pulls someone over for a license plate light going out and then deports them? No one, that's who. Except if you're black and you're driving a car in an all white town, I guess.

Oh, but it gets even better. We tried getting him a citizenship in Canada or Mexico, whichever one worked out. No go; apparently, if you're deported from America, you're deported from Canada and Mexico too. Bullshit, I say. Utter bullshit.

So now, he's in a Third world country, we're low on funds because JUST BEFORE he got deported, we started building a new house. Had we known what would've happened, we would've never even considered it. Now, the house is finished, but for some reason the bank won't give us the key move into it because of loan technicalities. So now, we're stuck paying two house payments, trying to support a man in another country with virtually no hope of ever coming back, and trying to support ourselves as well. It's all a big mess.

And then, hoo boy, it gets even better!
Bush has the gall to give amnesty to illegal Hispanics. How can you do that?
"There's too many of them to round up"

Bullshit. You've got illegal Mexicans marching the streets boycotting for one. Didja do anything to them? They shouldn't be to hard to round up. THEY'RE RIGHT THERE. The reason they gave amnesty to them is because they work for pennies, not because of this "too difficult to catch" bullshit.
You can't give amnesty to one race, but none of the others. I look forward to Bush's retirement from office.

My mom's had several nervous breakdowns because of this whole ordeal, financially and emotionally, and I'm on the verge of having one myself. I can't bear to see her in pain and struggle like this.
She works three to four 12 hour days every week as a rehab nurse, and takes any extra work she can find, and everyday she comes home exhausted. I hardly get to see her that much anymore, and it saddens me.

All because of someone getting pulled over for something so minor it's not even funny, (my ma drove that same car all week afterward and no one pulled her over) and being deported for a mistake they didn't even make.

The part that really burns me up is that he worked at Miami University for 4 years before he was deported. HE WORKED FOR THE GOVERNMENT. They're so stupid, they just deported someone working for them. If they really wanted to deport him, couldn't they have done it then instead of trying to catch him with a faulty license plate light and arresting him? Guess not.

Luckily, he now has a job at Air Jamaica and we can get free flights to and from, which is great.

Sorry if that was a bit long, but I just had to get all this anger out of me. He is the sweetest man on earth, everyone in my family loves him, and even my friends think he's cool! He payed his taxes, and even worked for the government. He's done nothing wrong, and they decide to arrest and deport him to a country he knows nothing about.

But really, it just goes to show you just how well the "system" works. America the Melting Pot? Pssh. Not unless they're trying to cook mushroom soup.

Wow. That kind of pisses me off, too. I don't believe the government should have the right to deport someone who has been living in American for all of his life except for his birth.

I don't really know what to tell you, except I hope you guys can get something worked out.

The best advice I can give you is just try as hard as possible to stay strong. Your mom needs you now more than ever, and you gotta be there for her. If you break down too, well y'all are just two broken people and that won't get you anywhere.

I wouldn't necessarily turn this around and berate immigrants from Mexico. Illegal or not.

If anything they would support you as well knowing that living and working in America is something people do strive for in their lives. And to have that taken away in one fell swoop of local police hands sounds really ridiculous, I don't care how deep your hate is towards other human beings who are not the same color as you.

This is an injustice against your stepdad, but as you can see he's picked up the pieces that someone broke and is moving on. Its all he can do. Talk to him and your mom more than ever now just to figure out what you guys are going to do from here on out.

Paying two house payments is beyond one single parent's requirements, and of course would be stressful. Don't give in to the debt and perhaps there are ways to cut your losses regardless of how much was put in, you know? You might want to reconsider some things and alleviate some stress by giving up a dream and working towards reuniting with your step father.

I guess you are right to hate all of humanity seeing as how you are stereotyping also.

Immigration laws are sooo stupid. Thats just horrible. Why should we deport people who work, speak english, obey the laws, and even been here most of their lives? As for the other illegals, there are "too many" and they are worth cheap labor. Both are good reasons not to deport them all. This case was truely messed up though, and to think they put him in jail. The United States is screwed up. I'll probably be leaving the country after college.

This is a pretty horrible story. I mean, I've heard of people who's parent/s get arrested and jailed for something, but this? A harmless light for your license plate?

I say, do something in relation to what Infinity had to say. If not in the news, get the story into a newspaper. People will sympathize with you.

That also shows how hypocritical and lazy our goverment can be.

What I find so ridiculous is that yet another piece of shit police officer who either A. is racist B. has a "quota" to fill fucks up a family all in a second.

I hate cops, I really do.

Me too. I never had bad experiences with one, however I do know some things about them. They lie alot, they enforce laws against victimless crime instead of crimes I would be more worried about, they silence dissent, etc.... I'm not a fan.

Welcome to America. Making you miserable is our job. (Thats our countrys motto no?)

However yea this just made me throw away my last ounce of respect for the government. And about bush getting out of power? HA! HA I SAY! when he gets out of power my teacher said hes going to court for war crimes.

We went to war
we caught the guy.
Why are we there?
To stop rebels? I believe they said they would stop. If we left?
So explain why are we STILL THERE.

Anyway yeah I hope things go better for ya dude.

My friend says nay about war crimes but I think ill take my teachers word for it ~_~.

We kinda can't leave Iraq.

Pakistan: Kinda our fault.

Afganistan: Really our fault.

Half of the World's Dictators (exaggeration): Put in place directly or indirectly because of the CIA's actions.

Leaving Iraq right now, well, would be rude.

I can't say conditions will improve after Bush, especially if another conservamoron gets to power. Americans are not very intelligent, they vote with their fears, morals and prejudices. I wouldn't be suprised to see another useless jerk in power for the next four years. I'm getting a feeling that someday, the entire world will unite against America, either that or we will just collapse. I personally feel that America may not last forever.

American troops are still in Iraq to supposedly help stabilize the new government. If we left now it would be civil war.

Of course, I read a convincing editorial that said civil war might be a good thing (wish I could still find it).

I hate cops, I really do.

I probably understand this better than anyone.

Ya, cops are retarded most times.

Awhile ago my dad was pulled over for missing a headlight(which we were off to fix.) and a cop pulled him over. My dad had some problems with this guy's family before so he starts arresting him! When my dad asked why the cop threw a punch. My dad not wanting to be hit, had a natural reflex to dodge it. The officer hit his partner right in the face and knocked his tooth out, so they arrested my dad for assualt of a police officer.

I was 10 at the time and they just left me there, alone, in the middle of the country, the whole night. No one found me till 5:00 P.M. the next day.

The thing I love about cops is how they think they have nuts. Wearing a police badge basically says "You touch me, your done"

So, cops bully people. They give you tickets for dumb shit, they make big things out of ltitle things, when your arrested and ALL they ened to do is cuff you, they freaking sit there and body slam you, choke you, whichever.

I had this cop one time, me and my friends were screwing with our friend during the baseball game, so this lady complained, park security comes over and we leave. So, I'm walking away with my friends and this cop pulls up by us. He's talking to us..PErfectly normal, no one speaking but the cop. So i'm literally standing there, doing nothing. And the cops stops talking, looks at me, and says "you think this is fucking funny? Listen to me your piece of shit I'll take you to juvi right now and make something up, I really don't like your fucking attitude"

All that for me standing there. That's it. I didn't speak, no facial expressions, nothing. That's why I hate cops. They're abunch of pussy snitches who run to the goverment every chance they get. It's funny, and cops wonder why people hate them. Whenever you need a cop, they aint there. But when you don't wanna see a cop, they're right behind you.

Ya know a pig can never look up. I suppose thats why cops are always looking at their feet.

For the record, I hope that you're all aware that not all cops are bad.

Granted, some abuse their power, but many are just there because they enjoy protecting their communities.

Example:

A few years ago I was out jogging to clear my head. As I run along one road, I see a bunch of cop cars going the other way and wonder what happened down the road. A few minutes later a cop pulls along next to me and asks what I'm doing. I explained that I was just simply jogging. He asks if I was running from anything. I say no, just jogging. Then I'm told to get in the car as he calls in on the radio that he has a possible suspect. I realize that I've been mistaken for whoever did whatever down the road. So I cooperate, and I arrive at the scene to discover that a local Blockbuster store had been broken into. Two kids my age sat on the curb in cuffs. The officer I was with asked if I was the third one to the store owner, he said no, and I was given a free ride home.

All they were doing in this instance was keeping the peace. Somehow though, I can almost guarantee that if this had happened to anyone of my age (at the time) they would've pitched a fit and the situation would've spiraled out of control.

So again, most cops aren't bad people. Yes, some are irresponsible, some are racist, some abuse their power, etc. But to deduce that all cops are evil sons of bitches that exist purely to make your life hell is sheer ignorance on your part.
