O_o;;

After about four or five years (or whenever the 3rd gen) came out, this is the first time I'm having issues with an ipod at all. Meh, might eventually come.

Yesterday at school, my hold button was getting pissy. turning it right would set the hold lock, disabling the scroll/buttons. Shifting it left was supposed to enable it again, but even though it physically shifted, the onscreen lock didn't go away, and the buttons were still unresponsive. No biggie. Later, I went to best buy and they exchanged it for a new one. I would ramble about the clerks being assholes, and parents being impatient, but that's rather insignificant atm.

I came home, opened said new ipod, cherished the new ipod scent, and connected it to my computer. Started shift clicking around my library to drag my albums over (whole library > whole ipod) and.. quite a few songs refused to transfer to my ipod. I've compiled a short list of what didn't transfer, and it spans almost every possibility. I've got generic mp3 files that won't go, as well as protected AAC files (which I own licenses to) which won't transfer. I have no idea why the mp3 files won't go through, it just.. doesn't acknowledge that I dragged the album over. As for the protected aac off itms, I have a valid license over it, 10/11 of the album went through, and as for authorized computers, this is 3/5. Hell if I know the physical location of the other 2, Had I known, I would deauthorize them, because this is the only one I actively.

Oh, and the error given was:

Well, I went off do the next option. It was relatively new (as of this post, not even 24 hours) I pulled out my g:backups and opened the most recent ipod updater, which was supposedly to be recent as of 3/23/06, upgrading the (already 1.1.1) to 1.1.1. Ran the program, selected update (even though it said already up to date). Then I restored it. (factory settings up to date). Ten minutes later, and a computer restart, I started transferring stuff over again, and .. same audio files wouldn't transfer.

Me, being me, and quite persistent, This morning, I unplugged it, and tried another usb port (direct to comp, no hub) and restored it again. Still, broken songs won't transfer. Rather odd, as I've had no issues of this sort on my previous (returned yesterday) video ipod.

Edit: broken [img] tag

I'd post at http://www.ilounge.com and ask them. They're a site devoted to iPod's and will probably be able to help you.

Good luck! It's never fun when your iPod acts up http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
