Is trying to find items using the beats just a rumor that doesn't work?because i have seen many FAQs using this method but they did say it was speculation

There is no relation between finding rares and the beat system IMO.

The only things I can think of are the Heaven Punisher special and the power of the Morning Glory being affected by the beat system.

Correct, the beat system does only affect a special attack with Heaven Punisher and teh ATP of Morning Glory. =)

The above sticky claims that beats do not affect item drops, and it is from a very intelligent and dependable source.

I have a theory though....I'm not saying that beats affect it, but does the time on your console
ex:gamecube affect drop rates? There is a good theory of this because my brother would find more rare items around 6:30 PST

And on the eigth day god said: "Let there be coincidence."

J/k...but seriously http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif It might work but I'm sure that one of the PSOW wizzes would have informed the community about it by now http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

The Beat/Time theories have largely been discredited for item drop rates. Most people now accept that it truely is random.

beats correspond directly to the time programed into your console. I believe there is a conversion chart somewhere on this site but I don't remember where.

The Beat system was also mainly created with the purpose of having a universal PSO time so that people could easily meet up @ # beats. Yet, I don't know of anyone who actually does that..

the beat system got thought up by swatch - there were even a series of beat-watches. tho, the acceptance wasnt too big so it never got used. to my knowledge, other than swatch, only PSO uses/used the system.
