Characters Based Off Yourself?

I made this topic in the PSU forum, but that was specifically aimed towards PSU of course.

In a game where there is a character customization option, does anyone make characters based off themselves, or even just based off real-life people? Or even just names after themselves/other criteria http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif.

For PSO, my main character is PJ, and he actually is supposed to be based off me, but due to PSO's limited customization (I mean, there's a lot, but not in terms of specifics), it wasn't very possible.

Of course, I don't have green hair, or wear purple clothes. The basic concept was, the face, hair and proportions were smiliar. In fact, PJ originally had brown hair like me (Although, my hair is lighter than what it was). Thanks to PJ, I even wanted to have green hair, but after discovering I wouldave needed to bleach it, I opted away from that.

Just like my PSU topic, I don't plan to make a character/characters based off myself, but I did it for fun.

Except that I'm paler than that, it's really oddly accurate. If I decide to, I might make him another Extra Mode character, but I don't want to go as crazy with PSU characters as I did for PSO characters.

In Pokemon, on my Firered my Rival is named PJ. It's just kinda cool to be referenced to everywhere, yet not be the actual player XD In Gale of Darkness, I named the player Joseph, which is my middle name (Hence the J).

For Golden Sun, I usually name Ivan PJ (My usual RPG name is Gold, and more recently, Silver as a secondary character, so obviously I named Isaac Gold http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif)

In arcade games where they keep score with 3 letters, I always use, "PJ!" Samething with my Smashbros name.

Hmmm. My original PSOBB character was named Shirley, after Shirley Manson. She didn't look very similar, but it was as close as I could get it. XD

Other than that one homage character, I've pretty much just invented new personas for my online d00dz. On offline games, I generally just stick with whatever the default character names are.

My character was basically based off myself. Of course, its actually based off my 14 year old self, since that's when I made him. ^_^;

Only, I dont have as pointy ears as Mowse does. >.>;

I don't base characters off of myself, other than the fact that when Height is an option, I always make them short as possible(since Im so short. ;p)

The thing that I DO do, however, is pretty much make the same characters, or at least use their names. For example, I'll use the name Scrub and make a dark skinned, green haired character. Or with Grey, a ponytailed grey-haired character, and so on. It also depends on the class that I name them. For example, I use Scrythe for Warrior class, Grey for Stealth class, and Scrub for Magic class. :3 People call me unoriginal, but I like sticking with the same characters through my games.

Well, like I said in the PSU one, my PSO main character is pretty much exactly how I am except his hair is long and mine is not.

I got my character (Reki) off of .hack's Reki (Balmung's assistant). In terms of him being like me, there is some stuff but not a lot.

But then Sony did Monolith did something screwy with the servers and my guy got completely randomized...and needless to say I was NOT happy.

I've only based characters off of real people for 1 genre - sports. I try to update rosters every once in a while, which involves the mundane task of creating rookies who obviously aren't in the game beforehand.

After attempting this, it's easy to see why so many people buy Madden year after year. The updated rosters are alone worth it if you're truly hardcore.

I've named characters after some of my friends, although they don't look anything like them aside from obvious things. In Animal Crossing: Wild World, I named my character "Sambora" after Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora. I also gave him a cowboy hat inspired by Richie's cowboy clothes and hat he usually wears during concerts.

I usually stick to a few names- one for casters and healers, one for fast-attacking warrior types and another for just generalness.. I try to make them all look the same but it hardly ever works out. I also have her run around with a Freeze/Burning/Charge pistol of each for changing to whenever I get bored, for each of her major weapon types.. I decided not to do it on PSO as my two choices would've been HUmar or RAmar. I just couldn't stoop to insulting myself like that.

In other games? Nope, not really. For strategy games I tend to use leaders from history, Barbarosa, Jarl Osbjorn, et cetera, et cetera...

Plus, if I'm going to be spending hundreds of hours looking at someone's ass I'm going to sure as hell choose a female character. I'd rather have at least some eye candy to look at rather than guy ass for hundreds of hours.

Meh. I have a D&D wizard named Morrolan and since I usually jump right into the magic-using classes as soon as I get a new RPG, I usually make a Morrolan. I did for Morrowind, Fable, Conquer Online, Mordor (LOL, anyone remember Mordor?)... Surprisingly, I don't have a PSO Morrolan.

The REAL Morrolan (the D&D one) is a snobby homosexual high elf. I couldn't bear to disrespect him by making him a FOnewm.

I never make any characters base off myself. See, game is like fantasy and escape, I don't actually like to put myself in the escape. I like to be the person overseeing someone elses' misfortune.

So I usually just make some character and make up some story for it afterwards! :>

I base the personality Height and combat preferances on my self out side of that I generally use the same Character names for anything I get to create a character for I have like 3 different D&D characters that all have the Name Yamishi they all look the same before a class started to mod one and they all reperesnt a different preferance but bound by a common theme.

Don't have any screenshots, but I once made a RAmar on the GC to look as much like Solid Snake as possible. Sans the cigarette, it was pretty accurate XD
