Colorful, round a little dark inside ring. why is it there, and haven't seen before?

Edit: Friend saw too, She took two pics

Edit 2: Got them and uploaded. I think second one turned out better.

Ring is still there too. Managed to get a pic with my Cell cam, but I can't upload it, and these pics are much better.

I assume that is the light refracting off of the water particles in the atmosphere and going to your camera/eyes in those different patterns of light.

Think of a mini-rainbow.

I think Dre is right.

i think its there because of the suns reflection off of the camera lens. Its like that for any light source, but its cool cuz its the sun

Yea, that is a legit natural phenomenon.
We've had them here too, they're pretty rare though. Don't be surprised if your local news does a story. (people go wacky when the see it, and say its aliens or elvis or something doing it) They're called some big weather-name like coronasomething. I think if I remember right they are ice-crystals turned a sertain way in the atmosphere, and they do a single or double ring. The one we had here was 1 and like half of another. They can last for hours.

They are not a camera-trick or a lense flare. Sometimes even the moon will do a softer one, but then it's called something different. Maybe wikipedia has something?

"That's the complete parhelic circle!" I exclaimed aloud to the empty street.

Awesome quote from the first link there you gave there Skorp.
With some nice images of what's going on also.
