Why in God's/Allah's/Buddha's/insert deity of choice's name do people attempt to answer questions when they aren't sure/don't know the freakin' answer? I'm not even talking about PSOW specifically (even though I see alot of it here as well.) I was looking through the Yahoo! Answers area and every other damn "answer" started and ended the exact same way:

I think it was/is/had/needs/uses (blah, blah, blah, basically some dumbass response faithfully followed with...) but I'm not sure.

If you aren't sure, keep your trap shut and wait for someone who IS SURE to answer. And honestly, it probably wouldn't seem as bad if it didn't happen quite so often. But when you look through answers and 15 people in a row admit they have no real clue, but are simply guessing, it's annoying. Sites like that aren't meant for people to spout useless (and usually pointless) opinions about what the answer "might" be. It's for people who actually know to answer the question for the other person.

Ok, got that off my chest. I'm much better now http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Or also when one person posts an answer and then 7 people spam the exact same thing. But I agree with you...I hope I can say that without sounding hypocritical http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_redface.gif.

YEAH!! I should have included that also. I see that all over the place here at PSOW. If the question is already answered, then move on. I mean if someone actually has something important/relevent to add to it, then great, but it's usually just the same answer posted over and over again until your eyes roll back in your head with annoyance.

Long live post count spamming!!!! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Frankly, I'd like to try to answer's someones questions, even if I wasn't sure.

I think the only place it's REALLY bad is when the question is already answered, and then someone answers it without being sure, and being wrong http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Phew, I'm not alone.

This issue spans into a larger picture: http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/spam.gif. People answering "i'm not sure" is all generated from their compulsive desire to post on every thread, regardless of relevance. Either that, or poll-making. I'll admit, when I first came here I made 2 polls...albeit they weren't as lame as some of the ones being made now, but polls will be polls. Either that or the people who contribute absolutely nothing. Example:
"What's your favorite Quote?"
kool.

...OR

"What does indentify mean?
the act of indetifying.

It seems like everyone is in such a hurry to get their 100 posts that they forget the golden rule:
"We don't care about your post count. We care if your posts count."

Even though I'm new here I can certainly see why you would find this behavior annoying. That and not looking stupid are the main reasons why I don't make polls, haven't started new topics in the PSU section, and try not to post on a thread unless I actually have something to contribute (or make fun of).

I think you're being too hard on them. At least they are making an attempt to answer your question, be it wrong or not. Not everyone can be right all the time and sometimes you may never find the "correct" answer. At least accept the bits and pieces you can recieve.

You're also double the age of most of the users on this site http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Ok, another thing I hate is when new members join and immediately start posting idiotic lies. Can you spot the liar in this thread, I'm betting you can http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
