I've decided to create a video...

Time: 7:26 minutes
Video: DivX Home Video, standard
Filters: Downsize to 360x240, process every other frame.
Audio: MP3
Filesize: 42.2 MB

Now for the question: is a 42.2 MB file realistic for 7:26 minutes of footage? It looks frighteningly high to me...

That's not too bad actually considering that you used the Standard setting. I guess it depends on what the video is and what kind of quality you expect from it.

Yeah, though I'm looking for a size to upload to YouTube. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

I tried a "target size" that I just found, which set the bitrate to 333 kbps. At low res, it looks all right. Trying at high res now to see how ugly it'll get. XD

Heh, most videos look like ass anyway on YouTube because they stream it with a really low FLV compression (for obvious reasons.) Clearly what you see when you compress the video and watch it won't necessarily be representative of what it will look like on YouTube http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Heh, knowing that, I uploaded the HUEG version of the file. Came out just all right.

For those who were curious about what it was:

The video looks alright to me, considering you tube's standards.

Nice driving! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

The quality's not too bad, considering some of the videos on YouTube (just TRY watching some of the F-Zero GX videos).

I'm actually trying to get a good recording of me playing Gran Turismo (yes, the original D: ) or even GT4, If Video Capture kits aren't too expensive..

My card is a Leadtek WinFast 2000-XP Expert. Takes in S-Video or composite (Red-White-Yellow) and cost me about 100$ Canadian.
