Firefox issues

For some reason my firefox was running in the background. . . No tab for it but it was a Proccess in my task manager. When I tried to open it, it said account in use so I made a new one and lost all my bookmarks http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

How do you switch firefox users?

Firefox doesn't appear to have different user accounts... If so, the feature certainly doesn't jump out at you, does it? Are you sure it wasn't running under a different Windows user account?

Firefox doesn't have separate user accounts. Explain what steps you did when you say you made a new account. What was the program that was asking you to make the account?

I should mention though that it does support different Windows user profiles.

If you want to see if your bookmarks are still available go to:

C:/Documents and Settings/YOUR USERNAME/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles/ybwlgmdu.default/bookmarkbackups

Firefox should have created backup files for the last few days. Find the most recent and use the IMPORT function.

Well, I tried to open firefox and it said "Account already in use." The account was "Default" so I made a new one. Now, that old accoutn must have all my bookmarks because this new one doesn't. After I went into the new account, I opened the task manager and discovered Firefox was still running (a seperate one.)

So now I'm of my bookmarks http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Follow the steps I listed above to see if you can retreive your bookmarks.

If you find a recent backup, go to BOOKMARKS>MANAGE BOOKMARKS and in the new window go to FILE>IMPORT and select FROM FILE.

Oh, thank you! I just copied the HTML Bookmark file and the Bookmark backup.

This happened to me once, you just need to end the process Firefox.exe which should've been running in the background instead of making a new account. Then, next time you start it up it should be back to normal.

I'm guessing this is too late for you to do that, but if it happens again, there you go.
