Favorit Fighter game

It dawned on me that there hasn't been any good fighters in a while. So let's just reminece on some of the better ones we've played.

My favs would probably be Smash Brother Melee, Soul Calibour (1 and 2,) and Power Stone for the DC. Why haven't they made a new Power Stone? Why?

First Fighting game I took pro was MVC2, then SF3, then Melee, but honestly, my favorite fighting game had to be Mortal Kombat 2

The original Power Stone on the Dreamcast ( I hated the sequel ). Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike. Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Edit: I meant to say Marvel vs Capcom 2 instead of Marvel vs Capcom.

Soul Calibur is in a league of it's own. Tomonobu Itagaki from Tecmo would probably say otherwise, his bottom 5 fighting games are the 5 Tekkens.... (Yes I know SC is not Tekken but come on, the similarities in combo's, moves, strings and timing are definately there).

Soul Calibur is no where as good of a game compared to TEKKEN!!!

More people play TEKKEN!!! And now it's credibility has soared past SC, now that DARK RESURRECTION has been released. I mean come on... if the game was that special, it wouldve ported over, and at the same time became one of the greatest fighting games.

SC3 was a disappointment, but you gotta hand it to Namco when they removed the online capability AND made it PS2 only. haha.

IMO Tekken has had its day i was a big fan of it until the travesty known as Tekken 4 came my way now i aint touching that game with a bargepole.

Ill admit Dingo that Tekken 5 looks interesting but 4 was so awful the only way im picking up a Tekken game again is if its in the bargain bin.

Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side
Soul Blade/Edge
Virtua Fighter

For the most part it was the originality of each that put them on top. Virtua Fighter would never be as awesome and deep as it is now w/o the first. Soul Blade's overall production values made it stand out. The music for one, and characters taken from different bits of historical lore and/or fact. Eternal Champions, yeah it's a Street Fighter clone, but the 2nd one tossed in some MK gore for an interesting mix. Plus again, it was an interesting story and they also had a unique system in place regarding special attacks. Plus some wacky hidden characters, like a chicken and a politican.

I would have loved to mention VF4 as well - but unfortunately, that is the only game my PS2 refuses to play. = / Though for the short time it was working, I loved using Sarah Bryant and Akira.
