For a little more than a week now, I've been playing on a Private Server. I won't say which one, but you probably know the one I'm talking about anyway. The server it's self is much better than ST's servers, for several reasons.
-FSOD's are EXTREMELY rare.
-When an FSOD does occur, GM's can restore your lost items to you.
-It has new content added every once in a while. For example, PGF is legit on this server, and Red Ring will be as soon as the next quest is added.

But their forums are entirely different.

When I started using the server, I thought I might try using their Forums too, seeing as how it would be extremely difficult to set up a game or a trade on the PSOW forums, if you can't talk specifically about private servers. This is all fine, but the forums themselves are insane. You can't post a topic without getting flamed in the worst way possible before it even reaches the second page. Trolls run rampant. You could have a decent conversation going, and then one of 3-4 assholes who ALWAYS seem to be on will jump in and raise hell, and encourage others to do so as well.

There are a few decent people there, but they are vastly outnumbered by all the trolls and other unsavory types that bum around the Forums. Does anybody know about that old shock site that was made by GNAA years ago? Yeah. Some guy had THAT picture for his avatar. He had close to 900 posts.

So screw it. I'm gonna copy and paste my tradelist from that site to the trade section here. I'll do my best to set up games with other private server users. But I refuse to use that forum again.

*sigh* I feel better. Does anybody else know what I'm talking about?

I dunno, I wouldn't worry about it. No one takes those forums seriously. I've never seen tradelist topics there go into flames, so, if you just posted for those. You shouldn't have a problem.

*sigh* I dunno. The place just has no direction. None at all. I like the way PSOW's forums are well moderated, even if it means talking about private servers specifically has to be done in whispers...

I was looking for info on the PGF when i found the topic about that Pickachu guy asking for advice about girls XD i think i read almost the whole thing funny stuff, but yeah it does seem abit..crazy in there. The servers are great though, my friends and i have just started playing on it and its great fun.

Congratulations on finding my last post there. I was rather angry at the time...About the first thing, it CAN be found, and I've played with Ade a few times, and he's ok with all of the new content (except for the Rare Hildebear at the end of Strange Sightings). Unless I'm mistaken, Ade is the only player right now with enought Photon Crystals to get the Red Ring, when the quest comes out.

I moderated for a short time (bout a year) over at the PSX2Central forums in the multi-console section shortly after the PS2 launched... so I know a bit of what you guys go through. How do you keep flaming fanboys, on a fanboy oriented website, out of the one area where intelligence and openmindedness are supposed to reign? It was like moths to the ****ing flame... and some of them were long time posters who were good friends with the rest of the mods. How do you manage that without stiring up a ****-storm?

That's not the reason I left - but it's one of the things I definately don't miss.
