The store that advertises it on TV just flat out says they sell all sorts of weeds and pipes and all that yummy stuff... but I also know the store is totally OFF LIMITs to Marines!

I just wanna take pictures and stuff for all my pot head friends so they can believe it's real!!!

That is quite interesting. I wouldn't have expected that, given that is a US state...but I guess it's far enough way to have additional autonomy in this regard.

I live in Hawaii and it is not legal. I really don't know where you saw it but trust me you can't smoke pot here legally. There is a place called Hawai'i Natural High, that sells pipes and other "tobacco" products, as well as like legal herbal things that you can smoke but as far as actual marijuana, fat chance.

From what I gather, the only reason that it isn't legal in the United States is because the government couldn't tax it. With tobacco, very few people could/would actually grow it themselves, so the government can charge as much as they want--realistically. However, anyone who wants to could grow a bit of pot; there goes the tax and profit. But I could be way off.

Actually, its status as an illegal substance goes back mostly to a media campaign blaring against it in the 20's. It went out along with alcohol. It failed to return though, because well, we've all heard of an angry drunk, but have you ever been able to take the concept of an angry pothead very seriously?

It's a shame, too, because hemp is pretty much the best material for making ropes that we have. It used to be the standard for the Navy.

Don't get me wrong. I may smoke a cigarette here and there, but I've no desire to smoke pot; I just find it a little silly that we can allow alcohol and tobacco to be used and distributed in the US, but marijuana will get you a fine.

It's also legal in California, although it's not often mentioned. Go to Fisherman's Wharf, they now have a shop that sells cannabis to those who have a medical license - yes, this is a store. Although Bush says that the FBI will arrest anyone in California, the state police of California are not allowed to touch you. Also, I truly doubt the FBI is going to raid the average Joe's house in California, otherwise they'll have to arrest half the city, lol. Not to mention the state courts are not going to convict anyone of possession of cannabis.

Eh Bruddah they just be smokin dah kine brah, dey don't mean no harm. Actually there was and still is a state innitiative called Operation Green Harvest where the state was trying to erradicate and get rid of all the pot. Too bad all they did was jack up the price and then create the Ice problem which is waaaaaaaay worse. Fucking Ice man I hate that shit, some asshole stole the helmet off the back of my motorcycle.
