I was thinking of FOnewm with rabarta. Should i do that or are there better ways?
Its for sealed-J btw

I hate to break it to you, but you need to have a Skyly character to be able to hunt for Sealed J-Sword. It only drops from Skyly Gi Gues at a rate of 1/12604.

ehm, i know that -.-, why you said that

Trystan probably assumed you were going to use one of the chars from your sig. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Looking at your character list, I would guess that you played PSO enough to be adept at using the different classes.
But, if it's a char that you are raising just for this hunt, then I'd suggest a class that excels in soloing. That way you can breeze through Normal- Very Hard. That would mean Huney or RAmarl, or if you are fond of using techs, a Force.
A Ramarl would have my preference for this area, combined with the ease of getting one to Ultimate.

A Formar would help out with lv 30 spells. But a Racast with a Bronz launcher with a charge will help as well. Humar with a J sword and its special will help to and a hand gun.

Yes well, somehow I don't think the OP has a J-Sword just yet... http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Or if he has a Flowen's sword, Dragon Slayer , Last Survivor or a Chain Sword would work as well.

I apologize for my earlier statement. When the OP said they were thinking of using a FOnewm, I assumed they were using the one from their sig, which isn't a Skyly. I should have assumed that perhaps the OP was raising a new character.

Given that, I have to suggest a Ranger. It's a shame you don't have access to the Control Tower quests (or, if you do you didn't mention it) because Rangers shine in the Towers http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif I too am raising a character for SJS hunting, but I chose a RAcaseal.

Ranger.

Spread/Needle weapons can take care of large Gee spawns, and use a Demon's weapon to take out Gi Gue in a few shots.

Alternatively, a Hell weapon (as mentioned) works wonders against most of Seaside, then switch to Demon's against Gi Gue.

As a note though- hunting SJS through Seaside runs really, really isn't worth it. 1 Gi Gue a run, at a 1/12.6k droprate is evil.

Its a lot easier if you can access the Tower quests (or even Phantasmal World #1).

I did 500 runs of Seaside when I was offline-only, and it was the biggest waste of time Ive done in all the time I have played PSO.

I will say that HUnewearl is very, very adept for this though, as is RAmarl- you can counter Gi gue's J/Z with your S/D, can Resta, and can Zalure Gi Gue.

I'm just saying, I don't think it's even worth hunting SJS offline, because its such a difficult drop.

Online, it's a lot easier (though still a pain), as you can get 5 Gi Gue in 5 minutes by doing Phantasmal World #4 2-floor runs.

Uh, guys...Have you ever thought that perhaps he's not hunting, but instead unsealing the J-Sword? It COULD be a possiblity.

If so, don't do Ult runs. Use a weak char, and do continuous runs in Addicting Food in Normal. You'll unseal it in no time.

If you're hunting it online, then use a Force. You're best using a supporter, since they're the backbone of any PW4 run (IMO, anyways http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif)

Hope I helped.

Pfft, why would he need to do Seaside runs, or a Skyly char for unsealing it?
Or even, why would he make a new char to do that when he has a level 156 HUmar ready to use? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

You do not want to play Seaside Area just for getting the Sealed J-Sword. There is only one per run, and according to a guide I saw, it would take 12000 runs on average to get one. Not the best thing there, especially if it is "on average".

What I would say is if you have Plus version, you do the offline tower quests. There are much more Gi Gues in the Control Tower. Or if you are online, you can do the Phantasmal World quest that heads to the Control Tower.

I cant get pso plus in europe http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
Btw if the drop rate is 1/12603 or so, it means i should get it when i did that many runs, it also means i can get it on the first or 2nd. it really isnt gonna take 12603 kills lol

Might take a lot more than that http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

It might take 100 runs, it might take 15000, its all about luck

Meh, I've done loads of PW#4 runs without a FO. They aren't necessary, unlike what a load of people seem to think. a HUnewearl/RAmarl can easily support well enough to see a party through a PW#4. I'm not saying FOs are redundant (far from it), but I would think the Rangers are the backbone of a PW#4, not the FO.

(Just try doing a full PW#4 in Ult without any Rangers...)

12000 runs is just the likely hood of getting it. Seriously, it is not worth it if you don't have plus version or online. Unless you are absolutely lucky and get it in 100, you would have better chances hunting for something else.

WRONG! you are hoping it wont take you that many runs, but from my understanding it means once you have killed 12,603 gigues you will have had only a 83% chance of getting the sealed J sword. But like someone else said, you could get very very lucky and get it very early like from your 100th kill or even your first. However for you real % of it dropping do this small sum 83/12,603 = 0.0065 rounded to 2.decimal places, this your % chance of getting it from each gi gue you kill. Oh by the way GOOD LUCK hunting this item.

Where did you get 83 from?

Since there is only one Gi Gue per Seaside run, it will always be 1/12603 literally. The percentage is more like 0.00008% of getting it. Unless you did a quest that has more Gi Gue's in it, that's the percent you will likely get a SJS.

T0m
Sep 9, 2006, 03:00 PM
1/12604 means the chance of not getting it is 12603/12604 (approx. 0.9999 http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_nono.gif).
After 12603 kills, the chance of not finding one is (12603/12604)to the 12603rd power, which is about 0.368
The chance that you found at least one must then be equal to 1-0.368

So the chance of having found it after 12603 kills is 0.632, or about 63%. Which is pretty disheartening, so best forget about that right away http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Splash is right of course. The chance of getting it each time you kill a Gue is of course equal to the droprate (which is, according to the charts 1/12604).

All this really makes me not want to hunt the SJS, especially since my Skyly is level 11 and offline only.

Wheee!

Exactly, you just get 0.00008% chance of getting a SJS for each one you kill, by the drop rate.

It also does seem like TOm is right. From the 12603 Gi Gue's killed, the chances of one them dropping is 63%. Notice that it is not 100% meaning that you won't be able to get one automatically from 12603 Gi Gues. So even if you killed this much, it might not even show it until like 30000. If the 63% is on your side, you would probably get it.

ahh yes my apologies, it is 63% (note to self next time check the formula) - 83 or 85 i think is wot i concluded to if you have killed 2x drop rate in this case 25,000 or so.Sorry i got confused.
