Out of sheer boredom, I've made this post to link any comedians/performers that you think are exceptional. I'm not talking 'List 50 of your best', I'm talking a select one or two that really stand out for you.

Of course, I will start it off:

Ross Noble is my favourite comedian. Seen him 3 times live so far!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAJ-q03JnQk

Bill Bailey is my second best. So talented!

I've always been partial to Sam Kinison (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Izn06QNof44). Yeah he was rude, hateful, and goes farther beyond the limits of good taste that even today's comics are willing to go. He's still funny as hell.

And of course, the modern king of comedy (IMO) Mr. George Carlin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jv2yXh6pTDY).

Carlin is great.

One of my favorites is Chris Rock. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbEZjwgwFbs) (Not suitable for work or school.) The funniest person alive.

And I can't forget about the G.O.A.T. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Txp8B4ek_kk)

Lewis Black is tops in my book.

Lewis Black and George Carlin are truly pure fucking geniuses when it comes to comedy. Although, Black's newest HBO special was a bit weak this time around....mainly because it only really dabbled in politics....

And if you ever have the chance, watch Robin Williams on Broadway....one of the most hilarious things you'll ever see...

Mitch Hedberg (http://www.mitchhedberg.net/) has caught my attention, as of late. Unfortunately, he passed away in March of 2005. Brian Regan (http://www.brianregan.com/) is also really quite the show to watch. Those are the two most standing out to me, at the moment; though there's also Dane Cook, Bill Cosby, and he who has remained unmentioned, but surely stands out anyway: Jerry Seinfeld.

that was my first introduction to stand-up comedy. i was 12 at the time, and didnt understand much of the humor, but i'd never seen my dad laugh so hard ever. it really is funny. great recommendation.

Jack Handey is one of my favorites...but I can't remember any places where you can find some of his quotes.
Just google for "jack handey quotes"...you should find something.

and Dane Cook (http://www.danecook.com) is absolutely wonderful.

Jack Handey isn't a stand-up comic, Derek. He's an author and a humorist, known best for his "Deep Thoughts" which appeared on Saturday Night Live. Example:

Delivered on Saturday Night Live, October 12, 1991
If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

Wikipedia is a bit more comprehensive on this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Handy).

Mitchy Mitch Hedberg is my favorite, but he's already been posted.

He wasn't even the funniest performer on his own HBO series.

The Waffler (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKn0l2EtFAk) is the only funny thing I've watched him do, and it was just a bit part. Maybe I just don't get it.

I tried watching Dane Cook once. He was alright, but definantly not what I expected. I hear great things from my freinds, but the thing is(and I'd hate to say it, but),I'm looking for a more sophisticated kind of comedian. You know, the one who can take a normal news broadcast and turn it into some bit that makes me literally jump out of my seat, XD.

I'm trying to remember this one comedian I saw on both HBO and comedy central. The special mainly dealed with sex and all of that stuff, but it was hilarious. I think his name was Rob....and that's all I know, XD

George Carlin, Rodney Dangerfield, Bill Maher (mostly from his "Politically Incorrect" days)

Hey, anyone here see "The Aristocrats?" It's a documentary featuring dozens of comedians telling the dirtiest joke in the world (and believe me, it is). Fucking hilarious but NOT for the faint of heart. Carlin's version is especially revolting.

I don't watch many comedian stuff due to the fact that a lot of pop culture reference that I don't get.

Russell Peters is funny tho.

Carlin was funny, but Bob Saget and Gilbert Gottfried stole the show. One of the funniest movies I've watched in a long time.

Best line in the movie was from Bob Saget. "Can I get a copy of this? I want to send it to the kids of Full House."

While I do like a bunch of the comedians already mentioned (George Carlin, Robin Williams, Mitch Hedberg, etc), I think I still like Eddie Izzard the most. Not by much though... George Carlin rocks.

Oh man I totally forgot about Eddie Izzard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjC3R6jOtUo&mode=related&search=). Haven't watched his stand-up in a long time. Memo to self, need to go out and rent an Eddie Izzard DVD.

Ciao.

I'll drink to that! Russell isn't too big over in England, so me and my friend can have a laugh saying his phrases whilst nobody else has any clue what we're on about. I'd love to go see him stand-up...the fact that he makes a jab at every race makes me smile. And he does such good accents!

Also, I just watched George Carlin....interesting! I only laughed out loud on 2 occassions, but he's nevertheless entertaining ^.-

Enough with American comedians!! Lets have some variety http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
