Soul of a Blacksmith

In the Soul of the Blacksmith quest offline, is it actually possible to get a good weapon perhaps even a rare? I did it last night and gave him a red mineral and chose blade and I got a Fire Sword. Is there any particular mineral you have to choose and which option do you pick?

in dreamcast version you could get a rare if you had a blue mineral now all you get is either FIRE,ICE, and i forgot the other. but no rares in the GC version. if you dont believe me then try to get a blue one instead.

you can't get a rare weapon from that quest only some partisan, etc... no rare. Go play hard/v-hard to find your rare weapon instead.

Do you mean play those levels to find them normally, or do you get a rare from the higher difficulty version of that quest?
