Is there a huge difference between the bigger ps2 and the newer slim ps2? If my playing will be affected by it, i might upgrade because its so much cheeper. Just wondering! Thanks

Your game will be sexier in the slim model.

Why would there be a difference?

If anything, I would expect the disc reads to be generally more reliable on the slim PS2, but only because any slim PS2 is guaranteed to be newer than the original PS2.

I wouldn't worry about it.

(Very) slight differences in the hardware inside, I suppose. The bigger PS2s have a separate CPU and GPU while the slim ones put both onto a single unified chip. I doubt anyone would notice any significant difference, though.

ive heard the bigger model is better for longer gaming seesions because the slim is prone to overheating.

Heh, really? I've gone through 2 large PS2s and I run my slim one on the carpet for long periods of time and it runs like a champ.

As for the original question, I've been using a slim PS2 for about a year now and if anything it runs way better than my large PS2s ever did. It certainly loads the games faster. The slim machine seems much more reliable.

You don't have to buy a network adapter for the bigger version. Get the slim if you want PSU

you mean you don't need a network adapter for the slim version.

I wouldn't even think about "upgrading" to a slim model if you already have an original "fat" PS2... Unless of course your old PS2 is on the verge of death... But it doesn't really make sense financially to buy a slim so late into the PS2 life-span imo.

Slim is put together better, doesnt need a network adaptor, but you can't put a harddrive in it without ripping it appart.

Haha! Good one... I think the game runs faster on the slim one, too. You know, more aerodynamic!

i also heard the Slime Burnout if stays on to long. But Ive gone thro 1 Ps2(old) because for some reson it'll stop reading the disc my Cusion has done the same. and the 1 i have now its seems to be starting to do so but still running great. love the HDD ftw. but If you Dont have Network Adapter Go for the Ps2Slime But if your old 1 has it alrdy stay on that tell it breakes down X.x. For Diff. Nothing really. i guess faster on puting the disc in on the ps2Slim >.>

I've tried playing PSU on both the large PS2(mine) and slims (game store's). I noticed that the game lags almost everytime when a mob spawns while it lags on the PS2 only when there's a large mob and you're spamming PAs.

I have a large PS2 on the verge of death and planned to upgrade to a newer slim PS2 model. I did notice however that after a while of gaming, it seems that the smaller one may be prone to overheating. Anyway, I've played on the big PS2 since it pretty much came out, not until the past few months did it start acting up, and now to the point that it cant read anything.

Does anyone know however if you can hook up a wireless gaming adapter to the smaller PS2 ?m Thats what I planned on getting along with a wireless router.

I must be the luckiest person on the planet, it seems. I got my PS2 the same month they came out, and I have had absolutely no problems with it O.o

Slim one overheats way quicker.
