Brings up an idea.. anyone know if PSU PC has a widescreen option for people who play on HDTVs / widescreen monitors?

Noo, you can't abandon us PC players Violet! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif

Someone needs to go punch an ST developer until they come to their senses and patch in some more resolutions for the PC version.

i bet it is wide screen only if you have a wide screen, many games let you pic your tv resolution, i have no reason the see why PSU wouldnt

I've seen pics and wata's vids, that's my comparison Kyuu *shrug*. Good specs. Plus, pics from IGN

Edit:I've seen a lot of good pc pics, I assume pics from ign, 1up, official site stuff, ect would look there best..><

PM me a vid or some pics that look better. The natural light contrast and blur the 360 supposedly had complications when running PSU turned out very nice, and you don't see that in pc version..so, it looks much better imo.

ya if that's true that will be very very annoying. there better be visual options to go normal full screen instead of widescreen with black bars and tiny font.

and if someone says to just get a widescreen TV, I'll slap them silly.

Watching the video a few times, here's what I've noticed about the Xbox 360 version:

1. Game looks like it'll be running at 60 FPS.
2. Runs at 720p (1280x720). PC version can go up to 1280x1024 for more detail.
3. Draw distance is farther than both PC and PS2, which is very nice. Xbox 360 has noticably less pop up in Raffon Fields.
4. Obviously, it's the only version with widescreen support.

Frankly, I'm kind of annoyed that we PC users don't have widescreen support and now also have lower draw distance despite being given scalable options in our configuration menu. Why the heck are they limiting PC users?

Saner
Oct 6, 2006, 05:25 PM
well its obvious since that's taken from a cam, that it actually looks better when you are there.

That's what I thought too, now the pc version looks capped out. Maybe a hardcore update will come out for PC later? Like, to change some things to as it is for 360.

Most likely the PC version has to play to the limitations of the PS2 version, given that they are linked. Such was the case of FFXI and its cross compatibility (PC did offer more options, with regedit however).

Regardless, I could care less 'cause that baby looks so tight on XBOX360, it's sick and wrong. I can't wait to see that on my HDTV on 720p, with my wireless controller, voice chat, and the ability to play with Japanese and European players. Bring it!

Edit (rant): To those without a HDTV. It would be in your best interests to somehow get one. The difference is astronomical. I wasn't even going to buy one, until I bought Enchanted Arms and when I saw that the game was only widescreen, I was forced by my soul to go out and buy a HDTV. I have not regretted that day since, I can not praise widescreen more, and I certainly would never ever go back to 4:3.

Some advice then: If your looking for a decent sized very economical but really good quality HDTV, definately go with Westinghouse ($800 32" HDTV 720p, HDMi, the works, is what I bought, best bang for the buck). If a bigger set is too expensive for you, go to your local electronics outlet (Best Buy generally has great prices and sales) and look for the PC monitor sized HDTVs. You can get an HDTV in the high teens" or ~20"ish+ that supports 720p for a few hundred dollars. I'm talking $400 and much lower. If that is even out of your league then there is this cheap but worthy alternative. If you have a decent computer monitor (perhaps even a widescreen one) go buy VGA cables for your XBOX360 and tada...you now have an HDTV for $40. Hope this helps, I can't stress the importance of playing PSU on 360 as it was meant to be played. Good luck!

totally agree w/ u there, Typhoeus, and then some good advices as well.

It looks stunning even from a video cam, seems like it's a prerecorded demo video with no sound...but still looks too damm good to be true.

PSU 360 has been nailing all the expectations so far, smooth frame rate, no slow downs/less pop ups, 16:9 720p support, Live chat, internationally linked server, & i don't even see any loading screens either on that video. The release date is set the same as ps2/pc version also, no delay this time around.

The Best game on the best system, this will be truly Phantastic !! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

That's not true. The quality at which the graphics are output on our client makes no difference to what other systems are hooked up to the servers as long as our client can handle the graphics and still have enough resources left over to handle the network traffic.

The only thing they have to do is do the programming for it. And if they have it done for the 360 version, there's no real reason they couldn't give the PC version the options for the same draw distance and resolutions, since programming for it is practically identical to programming for a PC.

Sega had better release a patch for the PC version to give it those options, because it's seriously rediculous to give the platform that has the potential for the best performance (top-of-the-line PCs can already outperform 360 hardware) less graphic options.

I dont see how X360 version is lucky compared to PC not having widescreen support.

us with normal yet comfortable TVs might be stuck staring at black bars and microscopic font unless there's the right video options http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

In the 360's video options, you can generally set 480i, 480p (both with widescreen set to yes or no) .. should you not support 720p or 1080i.

Most 360 games will run in a 4:3 format with a 480i/480p mode set with widescreen off. I'm pretty sure PSU will be no different in that regard.

thank you I never really messed with the console's system video options,

I'm used to either games auto-adjusting to your screen type
or having in-game options to adjust the screen resolution accordingly. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

if your TV has s-video input you should go buy s-video cable for X360, the game will look 3 times sharper and clearer than normal composite video, but even that is not even close to how 720p on HDtv looks which is about 10 times better i tell ya.

Nice looking vid, and I really like the depth of field effect, but I can't understand the reasoning behind the shadow tech.

Why on earth do we need to see those PS1 shadows on XO or even on PS2? They had real planar shadows even on PSOX (and GC if I'm not mistaken).
