System/server failure/maintenance

Possibly new content being put up, possibly changing hosts.

Could be any of those things. But I say if the site still isn't up, just give it some time and be patient. Was there any news on the mainpage about possible site downtime?

If it was an emergency or something bad happened(maintenance or failure) they prolly took the site down for a fix.

Hopefully it will get straightened out in a day or so. =)

No... ST said that their message boards was the only section of the site that had violated copyright law. The registration info was on the actual site.

This is not ST's fault. It's a problem with the servers, which the Adimins and mods over there cant do anyting about, being the server is nowhere near them.

I have the boards up in a different window right now, but it takes 5 minutes for it to load a page. The latest post in the chat was at 9:13 this morning, so it is a pretty big problem, whatever is going on.

I'm a PSOW member too. I came to PSOW before Ragol.com obviously.

And actually, why can't we all be one and not compete? Really all the sites are about the same game, and they all copy news from each other. So why can't we just all work together and get along?

Bad News guys. Ragol.com is shut down. I was on PSO GC (JP) and saw Flowen. I asked him, and he said the site was gone. He already talked to Ah King, and I guess Flowen's site is now going to be the new ragol.com. Flowens site will open tomorrow, the URL is.

People can be so touchy. When have I ever said I didn't like PSOW? The reason I came here to post the topic was because I thought there were plenty of understanding, and sensible users. GameFAQs boards... are horrid, and Mamak's board is about as bad a GameFAQs IMO. So where else am I supposed to go? There's no other set of forums with people I can "trust" than PSOW.

The attitudes may just turn away future members. :|

Maybe I should change that opinion.

ThaFlowness: HI, This is Flowen. I am responding to a couple post about Ragol.com and Flow-isode.com. What has happend with ragol is quite simple. I've said it before, I will say it again... Importing isnt really legal. This is one of the many things that just go un-punished. It amounts to about j walking the street. Ragol.com offeres guides that got us all online. From HL info to ISP/BBA set up. On one of the guides (HL registration) they openly say to fabiricate your adress. This is reason enough by law for ST to be able to shut them down. Esp being that this game is under JP juristiction. (For japan only) The guides offer pretty much a bypass for not knowning JP. Not to mention that there is an illegal modification to your US system to play these games as well. Like I said its usually something that goes unpunished. Buying the game isnt illegal playing it on an american system is. In america thats pretty much pirated soft where, game companies feel that is we wanted the game over in the US we would bring it to the US. This is why you cannot go into Funco land or your local EB and buy an import game. Or why you cannot go into suncoast and pick up a JP DVD. This would be reason why ragol was shut down as it would be under a copy right law, not meda. To adress another topic, about my site. Ah king is now helping me as an admin on my site, he said that he may rebuild and we will receive further notice, as soo as he knows. My site was registered on sunday night, I recived the email today, so I can start uploading to http://www.flow-isode.com tomorrow. thats how it will be up tomorrow, for now I am looking for serious board moderators ages 16 and up. you can visit my temporary host at flow-isode.5u.com and drop me an email if intrested.

Yeah, but that email on stated that the boards violated copyright law. So they could have just taken down the boards and the pages about import registration, not the whole site.

This is the same bullshit law that has made DVD region coding legal.

This is a serious threat to consumer freedom. If you are of voting age in the USA, you should write a snail mail letter to your congressmen and senators saying that you totally oppose the DMCA and any and all DVD/game region coding.

Only thing I see that could possibly piss off Sega would be the domain name, ragol.com, since it's trademarked to them.

Then again I could be wrong. But if I'm right, at least it isn't Nintendo. Anyone remember 2 years ago, where Nintendo went to court and claimed 52 Pok é mon domain names from 52 different Pok é mon fan sites?

Think this may be the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Might be time for me to invest in a PS2 and FFXI now instead of PSO. At least in FFXI, the servers are run by a team of competent people instead of monkeys (people are actually paid to *gasp*, monitor the server and ban idiots, not to mention no cheating after half a year since the JP release), not to mention Square doesn't have nearly as horrible of a reputation that Sega is digging themselves into. The main reason I was going to get GC PSO was because of a few friends that were getting it as well but I'm really sick of seeing Sega making blunders such as this. Yes, they did send an email notice mentioning which part of the site was a violation...oh wait, they mentioned the message boards, which is incredibly vague and not even entirely accurate.

Think I might just laugh if Sega ever declares bankrupcy now. These past few years they've proven to earn that fate, the way they keep toying with their customers.

Is it really certain that ragol.com got "pwned"?

For one thing, the site is still up and functioning. Secondly about the email, why would one of the site admins say "I think we can be pretty certain now that this is a hoax. The sender made a pretty fundamental (but not obvious) blunder in the follow-up email they sent us. Let's get back to normal." , if indeed they were being "pwned" by Sonic Team. If they were being shut down due to having guides that facilitated use of the game in another country, why isn't Mamak being "pwned"?

And on another note the forums have started to move much faster, altough still not perfect.

ThaFlowness: I just finished talking with ah king. The message they recived by sega was to shut down there forums. He said he doesn't know exactly why they are doing this as mindshare is the one who got the email. She emailed him telling him about what sega said. We talked for quite a while. When I aske dhim if he wanted to work my site full time or keep his open he said he wasn't sure yet. He did say that sega wants the forums gone though, which means that the Forums on ragol.com will probly be taken donw. He's not sure of the future of the site, so we wont know untill he does. I will post it myself when the desicion is reached. As for my website im having host issues right now so I may not be up tomorrow but it wil lbe soon. I will post that as well.

Where does Ah King say that? All there is, is a bunch of conflicting information, none of which fits together. Why does the "new replacement site" not have its domain registered. Why does the temporary site have a link to ragol.com if it knows it is being shut down and is replacing it? Why would ST hunt down just the message board? And just one message board? What about all the other message boards? Why did one of the admins say the email was a fake? Why did Flowen say the site was being taken down due to their import guides, and now ST only wants the msg board down? From what ive heard Ragol.com is hosted on servers based in the UK, and large chunks of the american DMCA law are ilegal in the UK ( and most of europe), corporations enforcing the ilegal parts of the DMCA in the UK, face prosecution and large fines under:

Over the past few weeks, I have come to realise that I can no longer commit the time to the site that it deserves. I have a new life and a new job in Japan which requires my total dedication, and this leaves no room for server maintenance, answering hundreds of emails, and sorting out numerous problems with the forums - to name but a few of the 'issues' the site regularly throws up.

PSO is no fun anymore. I don't go online these days because most people only want to talk about the Ragol.com, and the game isn't the escape it once was.

Don't get me wrong. It's been a blast, and I've loved every minute of it, but the forums (which are the beating heart of Ragol.com) are severely damaged and to fix them would take more time than I have, so perhaps its an opportune moment to bow out.

I'm sure Ah King has a number of new tricks up his sleeve. His appetite for bringing you the latest and best gaming information never seems to diminish and I will talk to him about what he wants to do with all the data and pages which currently reside here. In the meantime, all the useful pages (such as the getting online guides, character stats etc) will remain here as you see them now. There just won't be any forums alongside them.

Thank you to all the people who have made this site what is was, not least the staff team, those who have helped us with technical services, and most importantly you the people who have visited and supported us.

Now I'm off to buy a new copy of PSO EpI&II and a new Hunter's License so that I can fade into the background once more...
