What happens to accounts that are inactive?

Exactly what the title says, are they ignored, are they deleted, just curious I think I might have a really old account here that I simply can't remember.

Inactive accounts are not deleted. They are left alone.

Yeah, the remain inactive until someone comes along and logs into them. Kind of like your old NES. Sure, chances are it still works (if it doesn't, then you abused it too much; not unlike how abusing your PSOW account will get you banned, and it will therefore no longer work), but it'll just continue to sit there and collect dust until you pull it out and use it, again.
