what is a photon drop?

Long story short, I found this bizzare item in normal forest 2 with a bluefull huceasel, i've got a level 89 Racast whoo hasn't even seen one of these and my ceasel finds one at level 5... Im hoping it is a mag-related item, because techs are one of the few things i care about, does anybody know exactly what a photon drop is used for? The information given with it is very vague...

you can exchange it in an online quest for an addslot or collet them and exchange them for various other items

There are maaaany threads about photon drops in the above forum, and they've allll been answered. =)
