So, im trying to play PSU online on PS2 and I keep getting the same error when connecting to the DNAS server. The strange thing is when i test the connection it says it works fine but then when i actually connect i get this error over and over:

Network Error -618
Connection to DNAS server failed

Also im doing this at my college, the two times i played back at my house it worked perfectly fine.

Please help me out http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Chances are its the collage blocking the ports PSU needs to work

im not 100% sure how the game runs over Xbox live or if it still uses its own ports. But i know from my experience working for Dell and HP alot of collages blocks ports used by major MMOs (FF XI, WoW, CoH/CoV, EQ ect). THat may not be the problem but im suspecting it is based on th e fact you can use it fine at home.

Do you have any problems with other Xbox Live games?

oh, actually im using the PS2 version. Others in my college have used xbox live through the network, but i havent. And as for PS2, im not sure who else has used it online but since xbl worked i thought this would too. Is the DNAS server something for PSU specifically or is it for all PS2 online games.

Oh and thanks for your help http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

It's the DNAS thing. Do you have to log on to your school's network to use it?

I have to do that, so I know I can't get on my school's network with my PS2, til the damn ITU people put my ps2's mac address on their allow list.

This wouldn't be an issue if the PS2 had some sort of internet browser, so I could log on with it. But blarg.

If you run into any of those guys who has Xbox live working, try asking them. The other solution is to get a router and run your PS2 though that. Make sure it's a router, not a hub or a switch.

This site (http://"http://www.dslreports.com/faq/11354") has been really helpful in telling me exactly what is wrong with getting your ps2 online. It's part of a faq (http://"http://www.dslreports.com/faq/onlinegaming") that has some info on getting your consoles online.
