I'm not sure if this is known or has been discovered yet, but as I was playing Extra Mode earlier today, I noticed that there is a quick way to purify the SEED-cores before actually destroying the blewme. It's really helpful if you're looking to get S-Rank on the SEED-based missions.
It's really simple. When you find the core with the goggles, switch to your Photon Eraser as usual, but as you're using your Photon Eraser, tap up on the stick (or W for us keyboard users) rapidly; if done correctly, the core will be purified in a much shorter time than just standing there and holding the attack button. I've only tested this with the Photon Eraser, and thus the Fire-SEED; I have yet to try any missions with Ice-SEED and the Photon Reflector.
Maybe this will be helpful when SEED-missions are released in online mode ^o^
