Well I just discovered the wonderful world of Danmaku games thanks to Youtube and the PSU server downtime.

Was randomly browsing player videos on youtube when I found a recording from someone playing an obscure (at least obscure to me) game called "Imperishable Night." I found a demo for the game from this site:

Which I found through Wikipedia.

The demo instantly got me hooked. I never realized how addictive, challenging and psychadelically mesmerizing vertical side scrollers could be. This reminded me a lot of a game I saw on the dreamcast called Ikaruga, although I never honestly played it. I just saw screenshots on various gaming sites...

I did a bit more research on Danmaku games and came to realize how popular this genre is, in particular with dojin soft developers, which are essentially the equivalent of independant game developers in Japan. Passion for games > Income from games

I didn't really know where else to ask this because it seemed like such a niche genre that nobody knows about. But considering how japanified the PSU community seems to be, http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I was wondering if any of you guys could suggest any more awesome, preferably free, Danmaku/Bullet Hell games for the PC. If you can also suggest some excellent Danmaku for the consoles as well as hand-held platforms, that would help just as well.

So far all I've really discovered are the Touhou series of games from alicesoft. Anything else out there I should be aware of? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Thanks a lot!

Not too many for the PC, but there are a good number of SHUMPS and a few Bullet Hells on emulators.
