Um... 1 end goes into the wider port on the PS2 and the other end goes into your router? >.>

O.o. Your going to need a router my friend. Its a piece of equipment that you hook up broad band cable too and your computer or phone in my case.

If you have an in home network (Computers in the house networked to share files between them and share an internet connection) the router is the box they're all plugged into and also what your modem should be plugged into. If you dont have an in home network you'd have to plug the PS2 directly into the modem which I've tried with my PS2 and GC at some friend's houses and it didnt seem to ever work properly. Also note the PS2 package says Online Broadband Only so it's possible you wont be able to play at all on dial up if you're using that for internet access.

or he could just plug the ps2 straight into his Cable or DSL Modem and reset the modem before he connects...

quick fix until he gets a Router

I've no clue how a Wireless connection on the PS2 works.

On my Xbox and Xbox 360, I just plug a reciever into the ethernet port and I'm off and running.

Wireless networks have a router. Its the hub thats usually located next to the modem. Also most wireless routers have cable ports on the back side for systems that dont have wireless options but still wish to be connected to the network. If not or if the cable isnt long enough I think I remember seeing something that worked as a wireless adapter that converted the LAN port on network cards into a wireless port. Dunno if these work on a PS2 tho so you'd have to either do some research yourself, buy one and try it (I think they were fairly cheap price wise.), or find someone that has already tried it.
