For this item and quite a few others it tells you that you can 'substitute' kubara wood to make different weapons. Does this require a special board or do you just switch the items?

id like to assume its just the synthesis items, thats what i think, but i cant be sure. cause you know that different synthesis items can change the entire outcome of the weapon right?

No, you just change the wood, and that alone changes the output.

After finding this out, I QUICKLY rushed out to buy Ryo-Pistore boards... But it seems I cannot switch the wood on the board... Anyone have an explaination on how to change the item output using Kubara Wood?

It only works for 6 star and 8 star boards. This means you need to use the Ryo-Railatore board.

If you've forced a melee weapon before, you'll notice that it says ???photon. And when you go to synth one, instead of just OK-ing the material, you get a choice of all the photons you have.

Well, 6 star ranged weapon boards list ???wood. And you get the choice between using either the wood the board was designed to use or kubara wood. For example, for the Raihoh board, you get a choice between Neu Ash and Kubara Wood.

Weapons synthed will end with a "c" in their names. Kubara is for hardcore grinders, they are supposed to get the best grind bonus I think.

Oh yeah, kubara items have fixed synth chances. That's why your synth succes percentage sometimes lower when you try to use kubara wood for crafting.

Examples of grinds:

6s longbow: 417 atp, 1032 pp
at +10: 609 atp, 1338 pp

6s kubara bow: 313 atp, 959 pp
at +10: 667 atp, 1274 pp

getting +10 online is probably very rare and hard to do, +4 was hard enough for me +6 is probably my limit.
