I was wondering just how much of an effect luck has on grinding, weapon grinding makes me very very nervous and i was thinking if it was that much safer to do with lvl 3 luck then i could always create a character with luck that day just to grind my weapons, any insights?

Well..I had luck 0 last night and used C grinders+8 and grinded my flourecent bulb up to 5 and no break..I'm sure that was a fluke but then again you never know.

You get a slight boost from your luck level when grinding. You may notice that the person at the grinding counter might say "Very High" chance instead of "High" chance, etc.. I doubt it's a huge boost, but any increased chance of success is better than none. Just don't go crazy with it and think that level 3 luck = guaranteed success, or you will likely be breaking a LOT of weapons.

If you want to do that, go ahead imo. I originally didn't care too much about luck, until a broke a 5 star weapon trying to get it from +0 to +1 (my luck was zero http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif ). Wasn't too fun, so now I only grind on Level 3 luck alts. If you're really worried, just don't grind up your best weapon if you can't afford to lose it. Grinding to +3 is usually safe. +5 if you can get some good grinders and luck, but past that is when you really start to gamble.

I lost four decent weapons this morning with level 3 luck using +8-10 grinders and "very high" probability. I was trying to get a fourth grind on the weapons.

Don't take chances with your better weapons is the lesson I've learned.

Yeah, I've had similar experiences with breaking 4 or 5 weapons in a row just trying to get up to +5 on a luck day. When you synth and grind your own stuff, it can really be frustrating to keep losing weapons and materials constantly from one of the two things failing. Of course, this is why meseta actually holds some value in PSU, there are plenty of money sinks to ensure that nobody is running around with too much of it just yet.

Grinding - hands down the scariest thing to do in PSU. All my weapons are now +5, +6, +7 now and the returns have been great since they're all 3* weapons. I plan on filling a set of +10s before I go on to B rank weapons. I broke 4 B ranks before and I'm not going to break any new ones soon http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I've never broken a single weapon on the 4th grind yet. Only past the 4th when it doesn't read Very High anymore from just +3 grinders.

I had an experiment trying to use higher grade grinders on lower weapons (B grinders on C rank). I think the chance/% still stay the same regardless of the grade. Its only the + at the end that makes a difference. Yes - I will be wasting an A rank grinder on a C weapon when they come out to test this more. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif I'm still shooting for all +10 C ranks that all my newbie chars can use! http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Losing my most powerful 5 star weapon on the first grind attempt ensured that I'd never grind again. Trust me, 5*+ leave them as is, take your chances with 4 stars if you must.

Keep in mind that certian manufacturers aren't worthwhile to grind to +10. Your success rate past +6 won't go higher than "High" even with lvl 3 luck.

If you break a highly ground weapon, you have to go through the whole thing again and risk more breaks. Theres a point when buying a better weapon is the smarter option.

And yes, luck does have an effect on grind success. It's large enough for me to say that you should only grind on level 3 luck days (your first C-Rank grind will always be 100%, though).

Grinding is funny... I got c rank twin daggers grinded to 6 using C+1-3 with no luck....
Then on a B rank twin sabers I used B9's (max luck) and still broke 5 before I finally got the damn sabers grinded to 5

You can't fail the first grind of a B-rank if you have max luck, even if you use a Grinder B+1.

Also, grinding percentages are based on the item's rank, not the item's star rating. A 6* grinds the same way that a 4* does. Unless you fail an awful lot, you end up saving meseta.

Well, I understand that some weapons are worth a higher grind (i.e. everything else other than Yohmei from what I've seen/read) but right now it's not that expensive to grind to 5 or 6 on a full luck day especially since it's only c rank weapons. Besides, if I did take the "buy the better weapon" route right now, I would end up breaking instead of smartly just holding it lol. I guess I'm just prejudice against having unground weapons in my inventory http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif Btw, I'm at +7 with all weapons that I carry now (Tenora and Yohmei weapons only) - which is a total of 9 various weapons http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Grinding is becoming the straw that broke the camel's back for me... As if I wasn't having enough bad luck on a day where my character actually HAS luck http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif Failed a Rabol Patte 5* shield line synth, failed 2 out of 3 Twin Ripper 5* synths. The third Twin Ripper that synthed came out with a nice 24% element bonus on it. Took it to the GRM shop to grind and it broke going from +1 to +2....

Nothing like throwing away about 100,000 meseta in one night and getting absolutely nothing for it http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif It's getting to be about as bad as having random equipment drop when you die. I might actually prefer that, since I'd just carry a bunch of scape dolls at all times... at least I'd have good equipment to drop, lol.

BTW, there is no chance to fail a grind to +1 on a B-rank weapon on a day when you have ANY level of luck (even level 1).
